I got my car 3 weeks ago. I checked online, seem like it is 2018-OCT build
Current software is TB-006.025.001 I check online with VIN number last week, no update. Check again today, and downloaded UPD09042, which the PDF said is "001.062.032" I haven't try update yet. Will try tomorrow. However the PDF have no information about what this update change / fix. In short, there is no change log.

Yeah, something not quite right on the bmw server side. Keyed in my vin this morning, said update available for my bin/vehicle (bin # noted above), downloaded it to usb, plugged it in & says incompatible with this vehicle. And yes, no change log

Same here as well. Entered VIN and downloaded update to thumb drive. Went out to the car and no go. Seems like we are all having the problem.
The weird part is a month or so ago I entered my VIN and no updates available. Now they are and then the car does not like it. I will go out later and look at the current version number to see what it says. Maybe we are all at the same version?

Same for me.
I've had a number of problems with Connected app and with saving driver profile online. Don't know if any of these issues are related to each other.

Strange that the BMW site is still showing "Software Update found: UPD09042" for my x3 vin.
I did try to load it into the car but get the message not compatible. The files within the download show modified date of 7 March 2019... |

Anybody get this update to actually work? Update "UPD09042" was found for my car, but it says it's not compatible
Current versions I have are: TB-006.017.006 MB-006.017.006 |

Maybe if these are just COMPATIBLE with our cars, then the car is perhaps checking first to see if what you're installing on the USB is newer than what's on the car already, before going ahead? So you're sure that's how BMW's TB numbering works? It would make sense, but I don't want to take any guesses... If it's like typical software, the higher the number at the beginning, the newer the version... |

If you have the technical knowledge to take apart the update (it's just a tarball that contains a bit of xml along with binary files), you'll see that there is provision for version/compatibility checking. I have no idea if it's actually used, but I assume that it is. The problem is that the "update" seems to be looking for different/older versions of firmware than what we have (in the US and UK/EU), and possibly different languages (e.g., Korean, Chinese, and others, but not English). |
