my first software update

so I just got a notification on my phone that there was a software update. I downloaded it on my phone as instructed. What happens next. It looks like as I drive it will just upload to the car? does anyone know what changes are made to idrive with this latest update?

Let me guess, it was the 22-07? I got it yesterday too, after so many times of my dealership telling me 'there's no software updates available' on a Sept '21 production LCI running July'21 software).

You have to connect to your car if you downloaded it to your phone. In the app, there are directions and a video in the app. I had to connect via bluetooth and wifi, which is explained in the video in the app. I have a my'23 and is now version 03/2023.67

Agreed, that video is quite good in the software update area of the myBMW App.

My friend just texted me a shot of his X3 getting loaded onto a tow truck because the RSU he just installed bricked his car.

Honestly, it really isn't rocket science. The server sends code to the phone, the phone links to the car, the phone transfers the package to the car, then I'll guess it makes some checksum or other type of package integrity checks, and then it's off and running.

According to a post from mattsheng there were 50+ actions affected IIRC. It's probably a safe bet they got wiped. I need enough other stuff recoded that I lost that they'll check the headlight coding at the same time.

My anti dazzle was wiped with 11.2022 but my windows up/tailgate operation with the fob remained.

A quick correction: there aren't 50+ ECUs in G01. There are 26 ECUs in my G01 and I suspect folks with M sport diff, HUD, and ACC pro will have 3 more ECUs than I do. The pic showed "Actions to be carried out: 51" meaning the number of individual tasks needed to perform the I-level update. Only 18 modules got updated from 11.2022/60 to 03.2023/53, and headlight modules were one of them (FLEL: Front Light Electronics Left, FLER: Front Light Electronics Right). There are probably more ECUs that got updated from 03.2023/53 to 03.2023/67 but I didn't check

These must be coming out on a rolling basis because I am on the last one from 22... either way, in no hurry to install.

Mine upgraded this afternoon, installed fine, but I haven’t been out in it yet. Oddly I tried to open the boot while it was installing and the power boot wouldn’t work. All working after the upgrade.

One thing I have noticed though and I had this issue since buying it but not taken it in is that I cannot select the cheep/auto lock/unlock confirmation. 🤷*♂️
