2022 X3 m40i, 2000 miles, drivetrain malfunction light
Anyone experienced this? Started the car this morning and drivetrain malfunction message appeared, said car was still drivable. Drove to work (3 miles) turned the car off, then restarted the car and light was gone. Didn’t notice any differences in terms of driving dynamics.

Go to your vehicle status menu and see if there’s still any warnings there. Would also recommend getting the code read at the dealer. If anything needs fixing it’ll most likely be under warranty.

JJ 911SC Had the same message and posted about it not long ago.
His problem ended up being an issue with the 48v battery and it is now being replaced by the dealer. Not saying you have the same issue of course. This message can be triggered by many things. https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=28641840 |

we've had that multiple times on my wife's 2020 X3 30e. In our case it manifested itself with a loud chime and that message pops up on the center screen. Concurrent with that message is a little wrench icon in the dashboard as well as the check engine light goes on. When the car was turned off and restarted the center screen message and the wrench icon would not be present but the check engine light would remain lit. Car was flatbedded to the dealer three times before a software update fixed the issue. In our case in spite of the message stating the car can be driven the car developed a misfire leaving us uncomfortable with driving the car.
This would occur when the car was transitioning from battery power to the ICE. As mentioned above I suspect there are multiple conditions that can initiate that error message. So I'm not sure how helpful this report is. |
