AFAIK the DSP/AMP is same old, they just finally made a splitter harness to intercept the RAM/Booster ampified speaker output.

It depends on how particular you are about sound.
The system will play louder and cleaner with just the amp.
Probably also a little more bass impact.

However you will get more sound improvement impact from the DSP included with the amp. Use the DSp software to tune the sound to your preference.

However, the bass won’t come close to the Sound a a true tuned subwoofer in a proper enclosure would provide.
Also… I could never live with the tinny Hk metal dome tweeter.
That would need to be replaced. Morel makes BMW drop in replacements for teeeter and midrange with built in crossovers. You can buy them on Crutchfield.

But once again…tuning that DSP is the big key.
