Quick question, have any of you noticed on your original or in my case replacement OEM windshield that it almost seems to have a distortion or warping effect?

I just got mine replaced with a new OEM windshield and immediately noticed myself getting almost sick while driving. When I actually focused a bit on the windshield and not the road ahead it seems like there's a very subtle distortion. It's so subtle that I am wondering if it's even there. I did notice that with my polarized glasses on I do't notice it at all.

Have any of you experienced this? maybe all the X3 windshields are like this and I didn't notice it before because the windshield was used with surface scratches that helped hide the effect?

I have replaced my windshield with a new BMW OEM unit. It does have some wavy areas on the passengers side but none in the drivers line of sight. I'd take it back.

maybe because its sooo clean ??

When I changed mine, it was like youtube goes from 144p to 2160p !

Btw, I strongly suggest to get a OEM bmw windshied, mine got 5 deep chips, and none of them are spreading. 3 of them have been filled with epoxy.

very strong windshied, and here we have crazy wheater, -29°C dry buld and few months after , 30°C drybuld.

A 3rd party windshield will have all sorts of optical distortion. There's tons of guys selling windshields out of vans (Looking at you Safelite) that pawn off garbage as OEM. They might have a BMW sticker but by no means are they what came on your car from the factory. They're 3rd party reproductions.

How to tell 3rd party crap from real oem: A real OEM BMW windshield has no tint at the top. All fake low quality windshields do. Safelite can not get a real BMW OEM windshield without tint.

Your insurance will pay to have the dealership install a new windshield.

Thank you for the advice everyone. I'm confident it's an OEM windshield. My buddy owns the glass shop and lectured me about using anything else. Says he loses money on 3rd party German windshields because he winds up having to swap them out. So now he only uses OEM. I read online about other model BMWs and even Audi's and some Honda's having waves and minor distortions so I'm guessing it's normal. I've started to get used to it now so don't think it'll be an issue long term.
