M View Display via M1/M2 Buttons?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I am sure I could do something similar in my F80 M3, but am not seeing the option on the F97 X3MC. I could even change the HUD on my 840i when in Sports mode, so was hoping this can be done... Hopefully I am missing something simple I have overlooked. James.

My question was whether or not it can be activated to switch on automatically when you press one of the M1 or M2 buttons. For example, if I have M2 set to Sports+ everything, can I also configure the console and HUD to adopt the M View? James.

Yes, it's a setting in the menu where you configure what settings each M button will apply. My M1 keeps the regular HUD view and my M2 will change to the M view on the HUD.

Thanks. That's what I thought from my 840 and M3 days. I just can't find the settings on the LCI X3MC
I have literally been through it 10 times and still can't find it. I have even tried activating the view and then re-programming the M2 button by holding it down, and this doesn't work either. James.

I can change both the console and the HUD by hitting the M View button next to the start-stop ignition button. It cycles through ROAD, SPORT and TRACK.
I cannot find a way to change either the console or HUD automatically when using the M1 or M2 buttons. James.

If I'm not mistaken, with the LCI the ability to change the HUD with M1/M2 was removed...

OP: I have an F82 and your memory is correct that you can program the HUD with the M buttons. I also have M1 to be regular and M2 to have the M HUD.

I'm not in my car but pretty sure you can program the individual buttons 1-8 by the HVAC to change that. Go to the HUD menu and try holding one of those buttons down. It's an extra task but could be a work-around

With the LCI, we gained a dedicated M-Mode button in the center console to enable M-HUD. Non-LCI did not have this button. I'm this close to putting some sort of tactile sticker on it so I don't take my eyes off the road to enable while driving...

As others have stated you can't control M view via M1 or M2. M1 or M2 still work after you've selected M view though.

Thanks everyone. That's what I thought, which is such a shame, since it was a great feature on the M3. I am not sure why BMW would have taken this away.
It makes perfect sense to be able to switch to the M View display in the console and the HUD when selecting more aggressive M set-up options via the M1/M2 buttons. That's what they are for! Having to find and reach M View button is a PIA. Does anyone know of a way to suggest features to BMW for future software upgrades? James.

Thanks for the creative thinking.
I’d just like to be able to do this via a simple 1 -button press like we used to be able to do. Not one button followed by scrambling for another. Not one button followed by “arguing” with whatever BMW’s version of Siri and Alexa is called (perhaps we should start a new thread on giving it a name) A golden rule of IT development is to make things simpler and advance what existed prior. We already had this. Just one button! First world problems |

I spent the afternoon trying to figure this out as well. Make the changes with the push of the M button. It makes absolutely no sense not to have this as an option. By having to push multiple buttons BMW removes the benefit of having an M preset button.
I truly hope they will add a solution to this in their next software update.

Well... you LCI guys have the fancy CF center console cover trim available. But we have "this cool option" talked about here in the thread on our iDrive 6 that you now want. LOL
