Do you know what those acronyms are? Curious what they effect.
Receiver audio module ( basically the stereo that takes the output of the head unit, applies the active sound design then feeds it to the speakers/booster.

Fzd is the roof module, so those controls above your head
Oh cool, I disabled asd so that doesn't impact me lol and I don't have issues with the controls over my head. Glad I'm not missing out haha

My vehicle has been back at the dealership for three days. They keep taking it on "extended test drives" to try and reproduce the problem. I explain to them repeatedly that an extended test drive won't do anything, this problem only happens sporadically when put in reverse, and the car jerks/clunks a second or two after driving. It feels like the transmission is not getting into gear. I reminded them of the fact that I already brought it in a few months ago for this and asked them to perform the iStep update which should fix this. They have not performed the update or done anything besides drive the car in three days. The dealer claims BMW denied performing a software update, since they couldn't reproduce the problem. Anyone have any suggestions for how to handle this?

I just had this update and my drive back to my office took me on about 10 miles of highway. I think the wandering has improved but I will need to do a long highway drive to really confirm.

What others have said appears to be true as well re: somewhat improved ride, improved transmission/throttle behavior at low speeds, etc.

Keep plugging at it. Keep a diary of problems and take snap shots as required (maybe not in your case) and e-mail to the Technical Adviser as well as to your salesman as problem occurs. They give me the same BS but as soon as they up-date the software all the problems majictly disappeared.

Bonne Chance.

I got this software update on our x3m today as well
Noticed a marked improvement in the comfort steering mode.
Also the suspension became much compliant on rough pavement sections in all modes.
Transmission and power delivery also feel like improved.
I was sceptical about this update but I’m hoping it will result in happier wife when she’s driving it.

Does bimmer code have the option for full screen CarPlay now or do we have to do it via expert options?
Sorry I tried to search but nothing recent comes up.

Can you provide additional details on the steering?

I love my X3MC but my biggest complaint is that the steering is so twitchy in comfort mode and requires two hands if experiencing any corners.

I'm due for an annual oil change so would like to get this update done. Hopefully they will cover it (I have reverse thunks, and CarPlay drop outs, among other things) but am willing to drop $200 if that's what it takes especially if the steering is improved.

It makes it less twitchy for sure. Part of that is the continental tires that make it twitchy though. Also, the lane keeping assist(it defaults to still on but not as aggressive) will cause the car to feel like it's pulling back and forth.

I had the full screen CarPlay coded previously and this disappeared with the software update. Many thanks for the new information. I wasn't looking forward to paying again to get it recoded. You wouldn't by any chance know where the location of the "Legal Disclaimer" is so that might be disabled as well. Before this ISTA update it used to be located in the Headunit/Legal Disclaimer top level, with no need to use the expert mode. I've manually browsed the many options and glazed over without find the location. Thanks in advance for any help

Yeah basically in comfort mode the steering became lighter.
Makes it easier to change lanes in traffic.
In sport modes it feels now heavier compared to comfort. Previously the difference was less noticeable.
Also in sport modes the steering kinda Centers itself better. If that makes sense.

That’s funny you say because I don’t feel a huge difference in steering from comfort to sport.

That’s all good news - gonna see what I need to do to get this done.

I have to see if the lane assist is part of my issue as I’ve never really felt it.

I’m stuck with the contis for a while though as I’ve only got 3k and half of that is winter tires.

Once they need replacing I’ll go with the Ps4s but that could be years at this rate!

Yes exactly prior to the update the difference from comfort to sport was fairly minimal. Now they are quite different.

Suspension works a lot better too.
I need to take off the 20” winter set with the pirellis and install my summer set 21” and the Michelin 4S to see how they compare.

It also feels like they remapped the accelerator pedal.
It maybe feels more linear.
Before the update if you are accelerating in efficient mode and switched to sport there was a more noticeable increase in rate of acceleration. Now it’s more tame.
But sport plus gives a significantly bigger boost.

Is there any way to get an actual changelog from BMW? I only drove my car for about 400 miles total before I got the update so I can't really tell for sure if any of the driving characteristics have changed.

Question: I just got the car back and the dealer stated they did the ISTEP but my imprint from the driver manual still showing 11/19....which very old version. BTW, I claimed the apply CarPlay issue and they did upgrade the SW on that. Should I position the different issue here?

My X3M is (1020 miles) is scheduled for its 1,200 mile service on Wednesday (BMW of Fairfax).

It was born on Feb 12, 2021.

1.) How do I ask the dealership for the ISTEP update in a way that will most reliably work?
2.) How do I ask for the ASD to be "deleted" in a way that will most reliably work?

(I'd rather not pay for the tech time, if I can have BMW/NA pay instead)

I'm not sure the "imprint" thing shows the ISTEP version. I don't think it does on my car at least (2020, late 2019 build).

Try exporting your driver profile. This is what mine shows: <i-step>S15A-21-03-535</i-step>.

If I do the imprint thing, it shows November 2019. It also says my car is ID5, so...
