I doubt a dealership will eat the cost ... wouldn't make financial sense for them

Yeah, I saw the approval from BMW NA. JJ above is just making assumptions.

If its approved by BMW NA it's another story... Mine was approved and I got it.

There is plenty of posts on many threads where people ask for it and did not get it even if they paid for it.

It literally only came out this week, so probably the dealership hasn't updated yet from the pre Easter release

For those who have had this done did you experience abnormal tram lining and twitchiness on highway before? I find that I'm constantly making steering corrections on freeway unless pavement is near perfect. This is same across 3 different tires although Conti was the worst. Does update fix this?

Interesting, my dealer had to have BMW NA in Jersey connect remote to update mine. Said the car kept crashing their systems locally. But yeah, maybe just a point release off . Thanks for the info.

Yes, very much so my car was all over the place in the lanes. I haven't tested the new post update yet but will report back my experiences.

I wouldn't say tramlining was abnormal with my X3M, considering the big tires front and rear, but I will say that once I put the MSS springs on the car, which reduced the rear end bounciness significantly, the car seems to be much more "relaxed" on the highway and I find myself not doing as much constant correction to keep the car in its lane. Frankly, the car now "wanders" less than my wife's 2016 X5 35i on the highway.

Tramlining is probably not the right term but the car definitely wants to wander due to the sensitive suspension/steering. It almost grips too well in the front as when flooring it, it will dart in the direction of even slight wheel off center and sometimes feels like torque steer. These are weird sensations that I've grown used to but would be nice if it felt a little more subtle and natural.

I remember that "torque steer" feeling when I drove my car home from the dealership. It scared the heck out of me at first and I was almost ready to take the car back. By the time I got home (150 miles), I had adjusted somewhat and it did not feel as bad.
Before driving again, I switched from the stock PZeros summer tires to Scorpian winters, 255 fronts, 285 rears and the car felt much less darty. Not sure how much of the improvement was tires and how much learning on my part. My rest of year tires are Pirelli all seasons, 265 fronts, 295 rears. Again, these do not present any problems, although the steering is still very sensitive and requires attention at all times plus both hands on the wheel. I now appreciate how precise it is for a big, heavy, AWD SUV on oversize tires.

After 1-1/2yrs with some 20K+ miles seat time, the only times I've felt directional steering issues/'tugging' has been on certain types of imperfect road surfaces. Not the usual pothole-laden issues we all contend with, but usually deeply furrowed where the base has softened causing defined linear depressions, or more often on older Interstate routes with concrete base and often ribbed. I use only Sport steering (occ Sport+), as Comfort doesn't provide any advantages IMO. Wonder how many are using Comfort steering and noticing this?

Interesting how our experiences subjectively vary so much. I can honestly state I've never felt the steering was 'very sensitive', but maybe that's because I'm always in Sport or Sport+ mode. The handling of the F97 is what sets it apart from our G01 X3M40i models we had. Power aside, I would still choose the F97 simply because of it's 'Physics-defying' handling capabilities.

And although I usually let the classic "big, heavy, AWD SUV" line slide, it has become a cliche which no longer holds across the diverse models grouped in this category. The F97/98 is far from a 'big, heavy, SUV'. Compared to the M2CS some argument is there, but don't place it into the F95/96 or G07 categories.

Apologies to OP for the off-topic slant.

I drive almost exclusively in Sport steering and sport suspension, going to sport plus if I'm 90mph+. The typical road surface on my commute is quite bad but the car still pulls side to side far more than it should. It feels like wind is hitting it. Anyway while this is a complaint of mine, it isn't a major detractor and is the *only* complaint I have about this car. I always have complaints so that's pretty fantastic.

Just got new ISTA platform for my father's x3MC... did someone say that I can BimmerCode full screen CarPlay now? Or I have to find the .bin file I purchased before?
I re-coded the car but did not see that option for CarPlay.... thank u

I've heard the Sport + is only ideal for a very level super smooth, extremely level track or street surface (if one can actually be found here in the US). LOL That's the only time the configuration & EDC settings really shine perform their very best. Just what I've heard through various articles.

I wouldn't say the X3M had any worse tram lining than other large tired cars but the steering is so quick and tight, it was challenging to drive on the interstate without the twitchiness feeling.

Either 5 months with the car or the new SW update has made a difference where I don't notice it as much but the bigger difference is less bounciness going over the typical freeway joints and bumps. Which may have contributed to the twitchiness. Now the "comfort" setting can almost be described as comfort.... Although the firmness and low speed dislike for broken pavement is still there. It would take the MSS springs to fix that.

Receiver audio module ( basically the stereo that takes the output of the head unit, applies the active sound design then feeds it to the speakers/booster.

Fzd is the roof module, so those controls above your head
