X3 M40i vs X7 40i mSport Ride Quality
Hi - I’m interested in a new X3 M40i to supplement our family 2020 x7 40i mSport. While I don’t expect the two to ride similar, I’m hoping to have something sportier in the X3 M40i, while not being punishing, especially with two kiddos in the back seat. Can anyone compare these two or elaborate in another way? Thanks!

Speed, handling, and fun vs. big, comfortable, and boring!
My wife’s X5 has air suspension so it rides like its on a cloud. I prefer not to roll around corners so m40i for me.

For context, they did complain quite a bit on my 328i before this. Maybe they just like the higher ride. |

Don't have the M40i but have the X3 xdrive30i and X7 xdrive 40i. Both with M sport pkgs. X7 is more of a plush suv that can get sporty when it needs to. The X3 is definitely a stiffer sportier ride but nothing too rough. My wife drives the X3 and prefers it over the X7 bc it more nimble.
Kids don't complain in either car. They do complain when they are in my Tacoma as that thing is bouncy lol.

The X5 m50i is a BEAST. It is what I wanted... but the X3 m40i is easier to care for and feed. hahahaha....
If money was no object, the m50i would be in my driveway. The X3 m40i gives all of the feels and is more economical to operate. |

I cannot remember. It's been a while. I do feel like I felt the road more in the floorboard of the X5s… I believe all that I drove had 21s. |

I have a '19 X3 M40i. Came from a '15 X1 35i with Bilstein B6s.
My wife wants our 'luxury car' to be smooth and comfy. I want it to be a sports car. We found agreement in the X3 M40i with adaptive suspension (a must IMO). In comfort mode it's a sporty comfort, but no problem to be comfy for a car full of family. It's not on the clouds, but it's really comfy for highway and around town cruising. In sport mode it's noticeably more firm and really gives the thing some nice handling (for what it is)
