21 x4mc CarPlay issue

Hey Yall, I’m sure this was talked about but I can’t figure it out.

So when I get into my car, CarPlay takes a while to connect, and once it connect it disconnects and reconnects.

Only when I am near my house. Once I’m about a few hundred feet away it’s fine, as soon as I pull in near my house again, it starts sputtering and it’s choppy with music. Makes zero sense to me.

Can anyone shed some light? I’ve done the 30 and 70 second reset to no avail.

What kind of phone? Sounds like a wifi interference issue.

I have the same issue going through two locations near my job and I've had the same issue with two different iPhones. I've tried disabling CarPlay and connecting only via Bluetooth and the audio stutter/disconnect doesn't happen, so it's definitely a WiFi interference thing, but I don't know how to fix it.

It doesn't seem to happen in my wife's X1 when going through the same locations which is interesting.

So just connecting via Bluetooth via WiFi works for you? It is strange indeed

I recently had my 2020 X3M serviced for CarPlay connection issues and they upgraded the car software to latest and it works much better and I can also code full screen. Check your software and make sure it’s on latest. If not, take it in and complain about CarPlay and they should upgrade to latest. I have read of people not getting the upgrade so it’s not guaranteed they will do it.

Basically that is all you can do minus making sure the settings are right on your phone.

Can the update be done outside the dealer like a coding thing or such?

I have had SOOOO MANY issues. A few things:

Make sure there is no VPN ON. Make sure the phone is connected to the BMW internet in the car. Reset the phone, reset the iDrive. Worst case, remove the phone from the car and and app and re-add.

It can be one of many issues. GL

How do I check what software I have?
