purchasing a X3 loaner
Hi Bimmers,
I'm new to this awesome forum, and I think I'm becoming a BMWer really soon. I have located the one for me out of hundreds of vehicles, but I may want to hear your advice on this before signing my signature. It's a 2019 X3, MSRP 55k. It has ~700 miles on it because it is a service loaner. I think it is perfect, because the mileage is low and I have valid reasons to ask for discounts (especially my budget is limited at this moment...). Questions: 1 - I was offered a discount of 6k (11%, including 2k discount + 4k rebate) after the very first phone call. What kind of discount do you think I should ask for? I'm planning to ask for 18%, and will probably end up at 15%-16%. Do you think it makes sense? 2 - Any advice on a loaner car purchase? Do I need to check Carfax? Anything I need to inspect? Thank you, any help is much appreciated! Last edited by x3bestchoice; 06-21-2019 at 08:18 PM.. |

I got an offer for a 2019 X3M40i loaner at $47291 based on 58490 MSRP, it has 4000 miles on it right now. Not as low as yours but I think its a decent deal for me. They already approved my credit application and I think I will get it by the end of the month.
BTW, the only benefit of a loaner here is it comes with factory warranty and maintenance plan. The downside of the loaner as we all know which is the custom who drive a loaner might be abuse it since its not their own car. |

Did you use the search function on this site? Dozens of discussions on buying a loaner.
No concerns in buying a loaner. I bought a loaner a few months ago. 4K miles, beautiful condition. No regrets after 3-4 months of ownership. $43k but that was with higher miles than you are talking about and maybe fewer options that you are looking at. $49k seems high. But if it is in your price range and you like the car, buy it. |

I wouldn’t rule out a service loaner. The Audi A1 I had was a service loaner but on inspection was in excellent condition. I’ve seen other Approved Used cars that looked significantly less cared for.

Right around Memorial Day I was looking to replace my wife's 2011 MDX and found a newly-listed 2019 X3 courtesy car (i.e. loaner) in Phytonic Blue Metallic/Oyster, w/ convenience, luxury, navigation, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and trailer hitch. Unfortunately, it wasn't at my usual dealer or with my CA but it was so aggressively priced that we felt we had to at least check it out. It had just under 5k miles, which is what I believe the cut off is for being able to apply BMW incentives.
Now I am generally wary of loaners and would usually just buy new or CPO but the X3 was really nice, passed all the tests, smelled "new," and was in great shape. We did a test drive and they came down another $1200 or so after we exchanged some numbers. It just made too much sense so we made the deal. The best part is that it was just over 22 percent off and basically $10k less than what I paid for my better optioned X3 back in December. That's my long way of saying that, as long as you do your homework, a loaner can turn out to be a great deal. Good luck!

thank you guys. I signed my signature on it last weekend. final price was ~19% off MSRP, which I think is already a fantastic deal in an unhealthy market here in WA. I didn't go further because the dealer helped me get a reasonable trade-in evaluation as well.
I really love it so far. thanks again for all the comments. |
