Winter tires X4 F26/ X3 F25
Advise needed.
Got an X4 F26 30D 2015. Need to have new winter tires - 19": 245/45 and 275/40. Currently Pirelli Sottozero2 Runflat *marked (BMW approved). I'm only going for premium tires and this leaves the opportunities quite limited having the size combo in mind - I can live with non-runflat. Please note I'm located in Europe. I have found this combo: 245/45/19: Pirelli W 240 SottoZero S2 runflat 245/45 R19 102V XL* (* = BMW approved - do only exist as runflat) @ 260Euro 275/40/19: Pirelli W 240 SottoZero S2 275/40 R19 105V XL MO (MO = Mercedes approved - this is a non-runflat) @ 194Euro My question is: Tire pattern and technology seems same just one is runflat (front) and one is non-runflat (rear). Will this be a problem for te Xdrive system? - Or do I have to have same type in front and rear? - The rear size in runflat cost hefty 431Euro each....so almost 500Euro extra... Thanks in advance JensM |

https://www.lesschwab.com/article/ca...dard-ones.html "Run-flat tires (RFTs) are built with reinforced sidewalls, which make them a lot stiffer. This is why they can be driven between 50 and 100 miles (depending on the type) at about 50 mph with low or no air. When there's a big difference between your front and rear tires' sidewall flex, your car's handling will be imbalanced. You won't have proper stability, especially when you need it most: around corners, at highway speeds and when swerving" Seems like a No-Go |
