Noisy hitch receiver

I'm used to removable ball mounts having a little bit of noise and movement but I'm finding that the receiver on the X3 seems to be a little oversized. I'm using an anti-rattle clamp a lot to try and settle the ball-mount down otherwise it sounds like it is beating up the receiver. It isn't very convenient since it means I need to wrench the clamp on every time I install the ball mount (I remove the ball when not towing).
Has anyone found a good tight fitting class III ball mount for the X3 or am I stuck using the clamp?

Mine rattles with all my accessories. More than I am used to.

I bought this tightener and have been really impressed with how secure it makes it. One bolt to tighten vs 3 on the other I have.

It is very solid and very well made.

Had a similar phenomenon with a VW. Regardless of place of manufacture, German vehicles are designed in Germany. Metric conversion to imperial, or use of a “near nuff” metric equivalent to manufacture the receiver is the culprit imo.

Toyota does not have loose hitch receivers.

Haven’t towed yet with my Benz but will report.
