BMW is incorrect, the front and rear mudguards fit nicely on the M40i with a little time and patience for installation.

Factory flaps fit "ok", but need some custom drilling and do not fit quite tight. 3rd party ones made for M-Sport work better at a fraction of the price.

I purchased MOERTIFEI Car Mudguard Fender Mud Flaps Splash Guard Kit fit for BMW X3 / BMW X3 M Sport 2018 2019 from Amazon. The cost was US$73.

The installation instructions are sadly lacking and the parts supplied are not adequate. On the 2019 BMW X3, part of what you need to remove are hard plastic rivets for each mud flap. The parts kit that comes with the flaps comes with four metal clips that need to be inserted over the existing BMW fender lining where you removed the rivets. However, you need six to complete the job. Further, the metal clips are fine for the front wheel applications, but too small to work for the rear wheel flaps to align with the BMW original holes. The instructions do not mention the clips at all; but say you can use their supplied screws to attach. The BMW rivet holes are too large for the screws supplied by Moertifei.

You will need to purchase proper clips for the rear mud flaps in order to use screws.

Once you work the mounting out (note: no new holes or modification is needed to your X3 to use these), the flaps themselves seem to fit very well once you get them on. Since mounting them, I have had no issues over the past several thousand miles.

The part numbers for front and rear on realoem show compatibility with all G01s....

So it’s a bit confusing when a seller list’s those same part numbers as compatible with M Sport and M40i only.... when BMW list as compatible with the lot...

I plan to scan various listings later - but at first pass don’t see any differences between listings except price..

So for the aftermarket flaps it's a matter of ordering oem rivets in place of the fasteners supplied with the flaps? They look decent enough in photos.
