This 5-series gauges layout look very much like (similar/same) to our X3's.

But these displays are "only" on 5-series cluster?

Indeed, one can.

https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1585312

But the question is, should you/would you want to, if you have HUD.

Since the year 2000, I have custom ordered 5 BMWs, new. I have always taken great care to make sure I order a late model/LCI car.

I'll be needing to order my wife an X3 around Christmas of this year, for early 2020 delivery. Bummer I won't be able to wait for the LCI, but at least I will catch a lot of these updates since the G series X3 debuted.

Still haven't decided if I will go with the M40i or not, since it is for my wife, and she certainly doesn't need or care about the power. But I like it of course

The standard options alone are worth the price. The power is the added bonus

This is an LCI

I can confirm in Australia after seeing the spec guide for August X3 that the engine is the newer engine, new seats etc. It also lists BMW Live Cockpit Professional with 12.3” instrument display and high-resolution (1920x720) 10.25” Control Display with 32 GB hard drive storage incl. navigation, split screen function, touch display, iDrive touch Controller and intelligent voice control. Looking good for an August M40i.

That is ID7 specs, higher res screens etc.

I would expect the MY20 coming out in August will be the LCI, with new iDrive, new engine, new seats etc. Here in Oz, the base models get the larger screens now, wireless charging as standard etc. It's a big update.

Do you have a spec guide that you can post?

I agree that MY20 will be a big update, bigger than normal for a year-over-year change. However, I don't think it's the LCI. LCIs usually come out in year 5 of a model's 7-year cycle and MY20 is only year 3. Also, LCIs always have minor styling tweaks around the grille, headlights and taillamps. I think those will come in MY22.

Guess its not updated in the configurator. UK has the 'new' engine at 360hp versus 354hp for the 'old'.

It is really upsetting how BMW is delaying the release on 2020 x3 information.

My only thought - it is going to cannibalize x3 M sales since x3 M40 now has 382HP, new tech and more comfortable suspension.

I've come to believe that delaying the MY20 X3 info may be to lessen the cannibalization of MY19 sales. The MY20 X4 pricing is slightly lower than MY19 and there's all the additional content (although I don't think any of us are positive about the new engine). I'm now guessing that BMWNA wants to clear as many MY19s from dealer lots as possible. I've been expecting the new X3 content and pricing to be released "any day now" for the last month, but maybe it'll be another month before they actually do.

I think you may be right.

I’ve an X3 M40d on its way on a boat as we speak but can’t help thinking that I’d be better re-ordering a MY2020.

The UK spec car, which is already very well equipped as standard, now also gets acoustic glazing, folding mirrors and dynamic safety, for roughly the same price. Coupled with the new Live Cockpit Professional and it seems a bit of a no-brainer.

I spent a day in a new 330 and came away very much wanting Live Cockpit Pro. I'm not so bothered by the presentation of the gauges. What's more important for me is that it allows me to display data as I've wanted it displayed for a long time (media in the gauge cluster, map/nav in the center display, speed in the HUD). But iDrive 7 is the more important change imo. It's one of those generational changes for the iDrive system and whichever car I end up choosing over the next few weeks will have it. I don't want to buy old tech when new tech is available now.

I ordered an x3 M40D yesterday set for mid October delivery and got it at the current pricing and was told it will have all the MY2020 spec as it’s not due to be built till mid to late August

I can't post the whole guide, but happy to post some shots from it.

Here is the new 20kw larger engine, and the Live Cockpit grabs.

This could be the first confirmation of the engine and power upgrade! Thanks for sharing.

Looks like an Australian source too with the ADR 81/02 fuel consumption test.

This is from BMW here in Australia. This is live with dealers now, and if you go into a dealership, this is what you are shown as of this week. As you can see from the first photo, new high res screen (same physical size, but more pixels) and Live Cockpit as well, meaning ID7.

No speed increase with new engine listed though, still 4.8 seconds 0-100km/h.

Looks like an extra USB port, as they now mention 2, whereas the spec guide before listed 1.

Wireless charging and Apple CarPlay now standard in Australia with ID7.

Still no mention of Camera Recorder or reverse assistant.

No new colours or interiors than we had previously.

Change of all packages.

Not sure if new steering wheel is included.

Display key no longer an option.

Great find!! Thanks for that.

Does the guide say anything about new optional "M Sport seats with bucket-seat styling"?

This is the only option for seats that are not the standard sports seats. It is in a package that can only be added to the M40i, no other model. And only in Black it seems. Same as in the X2, they have those listed as an option (711 M Sport Seats)

Thanks once again.

So it would appear that the X2 M30i's sport seats will trickle up to the X3/4 M40i. That makes sense I suppose and they fit the description in the OP press release. Too bad they won't be available with one of the upgraded leathers though.

Same seats as the new Z4 as well. Non-moveable headrest, only in black Vernasca leather here in Oz. Not a good option in my opinion after sitting in it today.

I have confirmed as suspected above, not the official LCI, but massive improve.

It is likely that with the iDrive 7 upgrade, they will do the same as the 7 series and migrate to a 3 camera (up from two) setup in the windscreen. No confirmation if reverse assistant/recorder will be available though.
