My story – 1st order of 30d M Sport was signed on 19/01/2018 at BMW BELUX through the diplomatic sales channel. Since that time, I started to search and read almost every articles and reviews regarding G01. I found this forum the most suitable and informative regarding which options are must and which are nice to have. Returned back to BMW dealer on 05/03/2018 done another test drive and in result added Adaptive suspension and some more options. The funny thing that by that time I knew more details and situation regarding X3 than the BMW salesman Since that day long long silence and just on 08/05/2018 received an email from the dealer with attached Invoice… My VIN shows that production date was 18/03/2018, so why to keep this info and not pass to me for me is still the mystery. Anyway, hope that within week or two I will be able to share with you some pics and first impressions.

When we done last revision to the order BMW sales representative told us that we were lucky, because it was the last day available to do the modifications in the order. As far as I remember BMW allows to the customers to do modifications in their orders till 6 day before the production date

This is roughly what I always thought but I got this email from BMW yesterday:

"YOUR NEW BMW IS ABOUT TO BE SCHEDULED FOR BUILD.
After this point no further changes can be made to the specification of your BMW X3 M40i. Before this happens we review your order carefully. During this review we noticed the following two options that were chosen by a majority of customers ordering a similar car specification were not included in your order:"

But as far as I can tell my build is August, so this implies that my order will be 'locked in' 3 months before the build!
Also, surprised you were getting no notifications at all, that is crazy. I have been getting automatic updates by email from corporate BMW, not the dealer, telling me each step the car is going through. The above being one of them. Does BMW Europe not do this?

My dealer told my order was locked 1 month before the build

Build date is usually scheduled a month or more by the production plant. As far as email notifications go, we don't get to receive such messages here in france... I receive all the data regarding my car from a close friend working at BMW hq and/or my salesman by phone/text (but i know more than him thanks to my friend).

My 30d was ordered on February 23 and i got to 112 today, 150 will follow next week according to my friend and i'm planned for a 4 or 6 june buid. I hope i'll get my car by july 27th, the day i leave for holidays, 5000 kms road trip

I am new here. All i know so far about the new X3 is that production of 20i and 30i was postponed for 4 months due to exhaust problems affecting EU6d and for the M40i, 2 months due to rear differential.

I ordered mine on the 03/03/2018 and should arrive around September. Since then i have heard that some cars arrived earlier then expected so I called my dealer and asked if my car arrives earlier too. Production week is 32 (mid August) and should be there in September as expected.

But my dealer also said that it could still change.

I ordered mine (m40i) about the same time and it was built early May. I think I was lucky that the dealer had an available production slot but still seems strange that you have to wait so much longer. I'm in Sweden

Good for you. Hopefully it will go all well from this point.

An update on my order? Well... After the announced delay of 20i we decided to change to 30i (in March). This change was somehow overlooked on its way between the dealer and Munich. For our surprise, we got an email (in April) the our ordered 20i is in the production (according to VIN, it was really produced 1.5.2018). After some discussion with the dealer we decided to stick with the 30i. This was finally confirmed by HQ in mid-May, followed by an email in early June, that .. surprise surprise.. this is going to by also delayed! I`ll tell you... we were really reconsidering the purchase.. even canceling it. The reaction to our emails to BMW (HQ, not dealer) was SO disappointing... Worse than any e-shop I was dealing with. They really didn't know nothing. When it will be produced, when it will be delivered, nothing. Compensation? What is that?? We were really angry. After calming down, we made a deal with the dealer. And now waiting.. again... From the email from BMW:

I remember you stated the swap from 20i to 30i, a couple of months back. In the week before i also discussed with my dealer the change. My dealer stated, after informing at his BMW contacts that if i would change to a 30i, delivery will be no earlier than august/september. Seems to me like your dealer should have know that. Currently driving the brand new 5 touring (g31), which is also an excellent car and drives extremely good (also 20i).

Good lick with the wait. Good thing is that it will be over before you know it.

I wasn't happy with him then, and I'm still not. You are just assuring me, that he is either incompetent, or not honest. I'm looking forward not to meet him again after the car will be delivered.

Edit: I have to add, that when we were changing to 30i, we wanted the production in July (with September delivery) - and this was postponed to August production, as I mentioned in my previous post.

UK Dealer. Ordered mine end of May with production in the last week of August and Delivery by the end of September. Hope there will be no delays as production capabilities have increased (spartanburg and rosslyn plants). No idea which plant was my build assigned to. Any ideas?

I have tried there and it says that it's a G01 30d, but exterior and interior colors are different from mine, so I guess it still does not work properly... Anyway, I cannot see anything else without paying so not very useful for me unfortunately.

I will have to wait

mdecoder is a better option. The VIN numbers are sequential, so when I got mine I searched the database for lower VINs to get an estimate of when my build would happen. Give it a try.

Greeeeeat idea!!! I have been trying several VINs, last one with data is just 201 numbers lower than mine, with production date today 21th June. It does not appear on bimmerwork but does in mdecoder...

From what I've seen, they are manufacturing 30d models now as all VIN numbers I have tried are 30d.

Thank you!!!
