European delivery time

Hi guys, I am new to the forum, I did a search but did not see what I am looking for. I have ordered a m40i, but due to the special circumstances of my order( diplomatic/direct order from bmw) I do not know the production number,

What is the current wait time for production? And then from what I see it’s roughly 6 weeks for delivery to Europe, does this apply to the Netherlands?

I ordered the car last week and the dealer assumes it will be here by may/June. I think this is somewhat realistic given its 16-20 weeks. What do you think?

Hope this helps!

Thanks, I need the car by mid may, so that gives about 16 weeks, so production to finish within 10 weeks or the end of March, then delivery by end April/ start of may. My SA thinks this is realistic.

If you do not mind asking, where did you order?

Sorry, bit of a "thread hijack" here.

Was looking to pick the brains of the Dutch owners here.

I am a huge fan of my Vredstein Wintrac extreme winter tyres. I am looking to either add "all season" or "non run flat summer" tyres to my M40i.

Was wondering if anybody had any experience of the Vredstein Ultrac Vorti or Quatrac 5 tyres?

Many thanks

I ordered in Sept, production week was 6 weeks from the order and I picked it up 7 weeks after the production week so 13 weeks from order to pickup. I probably could have had it a bit earlier but I picked it up at the Welt.

I have tried the Vredstein Ultrac, but not on an x3. I had them on a JCW mini, they were very good in most weather but in sleet/snow they struggled,

If you're talking about Military Sales my understanding is that they cannot be tracked on MyBMW.

It’s a similar process to military sales, I don’t mind about not being able to track it, I just needed to gauge what the current wait time for a build is, it seems to be about 6 weeks, plus the additional 6 weeks for crossing to the Netherlands, gives about 12 weeks, plus a few weeks for final transport/possible delays.

All in all I think we are looking at a delivery in late April/ may.

Just got of the phone with my SA to check if everything is still going as planned.

If you order your X3 at the moment the ETA is June/July due to the enormous sales all over the world.
Luckely mine is still coming mid March '18.

Oh don’t tell me that, I am already exhausting all my options trying to find out the build date, I have even rang the head office for diplomatic sales in Munich, and all they said was that it will be built as soon as it can be and that delivery will be before summer. lol..

Good to hear that, since we ordered around the same time. I’ll call my dealer next week to check.

I’ve also been told that current orders (without slots) will be delivered around July.

If your dealer doesn't have a production number a few days after they've processed your deposit then you're waiting for a slot. Your 6 weeks to build time is probably going to be longer if that's the case.

Hello everyone.
We (as my wife and I ) placed the order 2 weeks ago (29.1.2018), paid the deposit, and still waiting for confirmation, or production slot or whatever that is :/ It´s also through a diplomatic sales. We wanted the car by the end of june, and were told by the sales agent, that it should be possible, but not promise anything. He was trying to get production week 14 as we were told. So far no progress. I know, that we cant do anything to make it quicker, so I just trying to collect som information about the process and waiting times, as do other people here.

PS: Just in case it matters: SA had some problems placing the order in the system, did it in front of us, some kind of error with sport leather steering wheel. He emailed to Germany (I think) about it. After a week ho confirmed succesfull placing of the order.

Where are you based?

Here in the Netherlands I ordered on the 2nd of January, production should happen mid March with a 6 week delivery time from USA. So expected delivery is in may..

Production of the 20i, 30i and 40i has been suspended (see the UK delivery time topic). Production starts again in March.

As for the diesel engines, these will be produced in free up production slots. So diesels will be on (even faster than) the originaly planned.

This goes for probably the entire European Union and at least The Netherlands (where i've ordered), Germany (see the motortalk forum) and Spain.

@ Titomi: how do you check the progress of your order? What engine did you order?

I´m just looking around the forum, i´ve missed that one. Not a good news.. not at all.

@MdW86 - only through contact with the dealer/sa. I´m wondering, if he is going to tell me about the suspended production. As for the engine - same as you did, 20i. Also thinking about changing to 30i.. but probably leave it as it is.

AFAIK, you can use any diplomatic/military sales dealer to purchase your vehicle, you don't have to use your local dealer if you're having issues with them. I know people who were stationed in the UK and have purchased from a German dealer.

Being able to shop around you can find dealers that already have build slots that can be modified or have already spec vehicles in transit or in stock for you to choose from.
