For me that price was $1000 over invoice.

I thought that MSRP was the consistent price. You can get it just by going to bmwusa and building it that way. At least in theory, since the X3 isn't up there yet.

I need to test drive the new model to determine whether I go with the X3 or the nearest 3 series equivalent.

Hi BMWCH,

no I didn't knew it. But now that you mention it, I may have a part of the answer as I had last week the car key of the X4 Msport during 20 minutes in my hands. If you look at the picture enclosed (x4 car key), the one I had (Msport) had the silver decoration part in U, in Protonic blue colour.

Btw BMW Swiss offer the HUD display (as you mentioned for the X3 LCI) also on the X4. Many thx for your useful info.

Enjoy your day.

Hi Sank,

Thanks for the pic. I appreciate.

You're lucky guy. You've see the new X4 "live" ?
What do you think ? Do you prefer X4 vs X3 ?

I've just confirmed my order and add "LED" headlights + wheels M622 19"

A production number is already available... 22 week of may...

Hi BMWCH,

you are welcome. Yes I saw the car during about 60 minutes. Well hard question I really like and enjoy my X3, but the x4 is different. I think it is more class, more sporty, more luxury, more muscular, it is a car for men only. Even if during the time I was next to the X4, came a young lady from Luzern area who could not choose between 4er cabrio and the X4. Inside driver and front passenger it is the same as for the X3, just the sitting position of the rear passenger it is not the same, but it was comfortable. If in the X3 we may have 3 rear passengers, I hardly believe someone will enjoy sitting in the middle in the X4. I go on Friday at my dealer to sign for the x4.

Excellent choice for the led, unfortunately the x3 lci youtube videos does not show the led lights, you may make a quick search of "bmw X4" posted this week and you will find the official product presentation of BMW "outside design" there you will see the details about Led Light of the X4 (X3 Lci).
Have you choosen the adaptive chassis too? I have it on my X3 Msport and it is really a plus for comfort.

Congrats with the choice of new car! The X4 is a really good looking car! Which color did will you have on yours?

I am about to sell my Toyota LandCruiser and will go for a BMW this time. I was sure it would be the X3 until the pictures of the X4 was released. Only thing I am concerned about on the X4 is the cargo space. I think I am a bit spoiled with cargo space in the LandCruiser :-p

Since you have been so lucky to see the X4 live, and are planning to buy one, do you know if there is any solution for a net behind the front seats when the back seats are folded down (to prevent cargo from entering the front area of the car)? In the X3 one can move the boot roller up front and secure it on the rear seat backs and original brackets in the roof liner. I cannot find any information about this on BMW's sites on the Internet.

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. The reason that I registered is that I have just ordered a new X3, and it looks like I am a BMW owner sometime in June. My first car!

My issue:
I have a really hard time choosing colour combination. I am going for M-sport, so that narrows it down a bit. Currently going for either Alpine or Carbon Black.
Leather interior is either Saddle Brown or Mocha.

I have tried to search for good pictures of the Mocha interior, and it looks good except for the stamping. Is there any way of getting Mocha without the stamping / coloured stitching?
Anyone here have any experience with this interior?

Also: I'm afraid of ending up with a dark car. Never been a fan of black leather seats. How will the combination of Carbon Black + Mocha + sunroof work out? Guessing it's going to feel relatively bright compared to an all black one, but I haven't seen it for myself yet.

I understand that only s28i and X35i have production date allocated. Not yet for the X28i. Can someone confirm that? Some dealers gave me approximate production dates for the X28i but some say they don't have the info yet

Regarding discount, I have so far anywhere between $1200 and $2500 off MSRP depending on dealers.

In Canada, all X3 combinations including color and/or M performance with 28i, 35, 28d are confirmed to be in production starting May 2014...this is confirmed by BMW Canada Corporate...since most BMW Xs are made in the States, I would think all the model and color restriction will be lifted even earlier than Canadian orders.

Hope this helps!

Indeed I had confirmation of this from my dealer here in Canada yesterday (they had just heard from BMW Canada head office) that the colours and models previously "On Hold - Availability" will commence production in May. Just waiting on receiving my production number now ; )

Hi Farnorth,

How north are you living? 10 years ago I did by car the coastroad from Nordkapp to Bergen then to Oslo, what wonderfull memories I still have of this beautiful country.

The color choosed for the X4 is Sophisto grey, you may find more info on the thread I opened http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=961288

Well I tried to find the cargo space volume of Toyota, I m surprised they do not communicate on it. But wow the CO2 Emission level is quite high!
On the X4, there is no net for the cargo space. I have it on my X3 (f25), I had it on my 335i (E91) and installing the net is not easy. With both my ex-335i and my X3 I need to full load the car one or two time per month. In the 335i I installed the net only two times. It is such a pain to install it, and each time I had back pain after I achieved to install it. On the X3 (pre LCI) the problem starts already when you want to remove the boot roller. You have to higher one side, then the other side put the roller in diagonal, pay attention to plastic in order to not marks them, well if there ONE negative point on the X3 it is the boot roller . I mentioned it earlier I don't know who designed that, but he was watching Uporn instead of making good and practical drawings. At least I hope BMW will hire a woman to do that, because I always asked myself if it is not practical for me, how is it for women.
Installing the boot roller on the back of the seat when they are horizontal is quite easy to do. On the X3, I never used the Net due to the bad experience I had on the E91.

Greetings to Norway

What model did you buy? must be the diesel or the 35i. My understanding is that they don't have production number yet for the 328i. Could you please confirm? thanks!

Hi SANK_CH!

I'm currently living in Tromso, so it's quite far north I would say :-) If you was lucky with the weather on your trip along the coast road I bet you had a great journey. Even though it may be a even more memorable journey if the weather is bad. Bad weather is a bit charming too :-p

I do not remember the cargo space volume for the Landcruiser (my LC is a LC120 MY 2007), but it is larger than the X3. In Norway we have quite heavy car taxes so my LC is registered as a 2 seater (if registered as an 8-seater it would have costed me about 30 000 Euros more than the 2-seater), meaning all space behind the front seat row is a large cargo space. When the car reaches 10 years one can put in all the seat at no costs. But even with all seats mounted it is larger cargo space than the the X3. But, I do not need such a big car as the LC, and after nine years in a LC I would like to have a "normal" car again. And what's better than a BMW then ;-) To me Porsche vs BMW is not a question. The Porsches are way to expensive with the norwegian taxes. But even if the prices was the same, I would prefer a BMW. Porsche is a car in the VAG family, and I just prefer the bimmers :-)

Yes the CO2 emissions are large. If I remember it correctly, it is 234 g/km...

As I said I really like the new X4, and would also have ordered it Sophisto grey. But I'm a lot outside on tours (nature photography and fishing) so I often have quite a large amount of equipment with me. Therefore, it seems more likely that I will order a X3 LCI M-sport. I know one just miss the cargo space above the seat backs on the X4, but if I should need some more space I can mount a roof box (larger/longer than on the X4) on the X3. Until now there is not much information available of the differences between the X3 and X4 regarded to suspension and handling, but to me it's seems there is not very much differences. But maybe there is more too it than it looks like right now.

Looking foreward to see more of your X4 when it arrives. I think it will be a really cool car :-) If I hadn't needed the cargo space it would have been a no-brainer.

Hi FarNorth,

Oh we had sunny weather 20-25°C, except at the Nordkapp where it was rainy, "hyper windy" and cold. it seems to be the regular weather there. But the landscapes all the way down to Oslo are amazing. And I took a lot of pictures with my old camera (non digital).

It is funny how Porsche is perceived here in Europe, in opposition to North America. I admit I would love to have a Cayman GTS, It seems that for North America customers it is more important to have the Porsche badge on the car, and less important to know that some pieces are not Porsche but VAG. Read some European (German and French ones) forums, and no one want to pay for a Porsche badged car, with VAG pieces inside (it doesn't concern the 911). even I admit too the front facia of the Macam is nice.

For sure the X3 has no cargo space as your LC, but I still have been able to put 60 cows inside !!!!!
If there is one option I could recommend you: it is the active suspension. Even with the M sport package and its 19" wheels, the active suspension makes the car really comfortable (it is actually more comfortable than my previous E91 335i Msport Package in 18" wheels). If you want to have the suspension harder, just one press on the button and it is done. Handling is very good too, here is link to my own experience with my x3 on a race track in France http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=257

Engine choice

I'm in process of buying a 2015 X3 for my wife. She currently drives a Lexus RX400h. I can't decide which engine. The diesel is intriguing and I'll either love it or hate it. She doesn't do a lot of highway driving, so I'm concerned about getting full benefit of diesel mileage. We live in Colorado and go into the mountains frequently, so I want something that will pull effectively as we go through the mountain passes. I know I'd love the 35, but not sure it's really called for for her - she's no speed demon. I also want to consider 3-5 year resale as affected by engine choice. So, I continue to vacillate between all 3 AWD choices.

Please help with thoughts as to how I should make this decision.

What will the X3 be pulling and how regularly?

I won't be pulling in the X3. I do have a trailer, but I also have a large truck that I use to pull it.

It seems to me that the 28d will accelerate well from a stop, but not have as much responsiveness accelerating in highway traffic as the 28i. The 35 will blow tham both away, but remember, it' will be my wife's car, and she is used to a Lexus hybrid SUV.

The 28d should get exception fuel economy. But if it's too sluggish, I'll hate it. On the other hand, I get my adrenalin rush from my BMW K1600gtl.
