The G01 X3 begins production August 2017. So, I would guess this will come a year or so later. Sometime second half of 2018.

The X5M for a while had the highest output engine of all the BMW range...
I seriously doubt an X3M will have less BHP than an M3, especially as it'll be a porker. My guess would be the X3 M40i will end up with around 370 BHP.

Just an observation, from what I've noticed the BHP of an M car of a lower range seems close to the (M) performance model of the range above it.

1M circa 340i
M2 circa X4 M40i
M3 circa M550i
M5 circa M760i

Can't wait to read the final details on the release version of the X3M.

When the X3 is the same size as the e53 x5 then an x3m is very easy too comprehend. (Aka x5 4.6/4.8 alpine built motor)

Depends if the rumours of the weight saving of the lighter, more ally and composite construction of the G-series turns out to be true.

Remember RR shaved off 400kg from the new RRS despite it being a dimensionally bigger vehicle.

That's not really a fair comparison considering it essentially had 2 chassis (full monocoque sitting on a full ladder frame).

Well I guess BMW "needs" "something" to compete with Audi's popular SQ5.

But it's cars like these that are the reason M says it's "too" busy to make an Audi R8 Competitor.

SMH.

Can't wait to see it and find out the specs.

Could be the perfect replacement to our X5 35i w/MPPK & MPE once the warranty runs out in two yrs.

I think I'd buy one. Since they won't give me an F31 340i and likely never will it is a better option than the SQ5 as far as I'm concerned. Came close on the SQ5 but went for the F31 instead. Even with less hp it is much more fun to drive with the mperformance package. Would sure like a 6 cylinder though.
