Post My 2022 BMW X3 sDrive Tires needs replacement

Hello There,

I took car to BMW Service center and they have recommended to replace all 4 tires as they were pretty much done for 25k mileage. I have reached out Bridgestone support if any warranty is covered as it claims to be 40K (DUELER H/P SPORT AS RFT), they have mentioned like "We certainly understand your concerns and apologize for any inconvenience. O/E tires are made to the vehicle manufacturer's specification and are not equipped with a tread wear warranty nor a road hazard warranty unless purchased from the dealership at the time of purchase. We encourage you to work closely with the dealership where the vehicle was purchased to come to a resolution regarding their warranty. The dealer is authorized to execute the limited warranty on-the-spot. ".

Did anyone had any credit if from the Dealership in such instances where tires worn out early? Pls advice.

Also, i was recommended with 'Bridgestone DUELER H/P SPORT AS RFT' & 'Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S RFT' to be choose from. Can someone suggest what would be best alternate for DUELER and where to get them installed from considering cost & benefits (rotation/road hazard etc).

I live in Phoenix, AZ.

Thanks for your suggestions, Cheers!!!

I prefer local shops but I've had good luck with discount tire.

If feasible I like to find nearly new takeoffs on marketplace or craigslist and get them installed. It's a near 50% discount. Worth an hr or 2 of my time to save 500 bucks. If you don't mind the RFTs it's quite possible you find someone dumping them shortly after purchase.

I suggest never buying tires from a car dealer. They are low on knowledge, low on choices, low on convenience, and high on price. Enter your vehicle model on tirerack.com and read consumer evaluations, test reports, and choose your preference depending on whether you want RFT or not, high performance vs max comfort, etc. Then, in many locations, they have a mobile van with a Road Force Balancer onboard that will come to your home/office and do the installation onsite. Or, buy the same tires from a local shop. I haven’t checked recently, but I recall there is a Michelin ZP (RFT) tire that may be a fit as well.

I recently got a set of the Pirelli Cinturatos I had on my car originally from a guy on here. $500 plus shipping. There are deals to be had.

My dealer offered to sell me tires when I went in for service for something like 2 grand. I ended up bringing them my tires over to them and they installed for a reasonable fee.

^^ This^^
I've only bought from Tire Rack (Discount Tire) for past 10-20 years. Get all the research and customer reviews. Make your decision. Free 2 year warranty (which I've used thanks to local potholes). Come to your home or work to install. Easy peasey.

Thanks for suggestions everyone. Today, i stop by Costco , they seems to have OEM Bridgestone Dueler RFT , final price at ~1600. Honestly i would like to go with RFT so i need not worry much about spare tire also as i didn't face much of turbulence/roughness with RFT here in Phoenix AZ.

May i know what difference you observed between Bridgestone Dueler & Pirelli cinturato p7 RFT 245/50R19 ? Any clear differences would help me choose between one of them, Thank You..

Duelers seem to be cheap, esp. against Cinturato P7. 25k miles is not much though.
These two brands are recommended because they have exclusive contracts with BMW (as in engine oils,...), so they will nearly threaten if using any other brand. It's quite normal (manufacturer has secured profits, provides huge discounts to car producer,...) "BMW SUV" tyres have the "asterisk" sign on them, there are indeed on very few types. Other than that, it's only about runflat/non-runflat choices.

I’ve never had the Bridgestones, mine came with Pirelli from the factory.

A tire manufacturers warranty is purely to let you know about how many miles you'll get. You will never get money from them because they wore out sooner.

I you're wanting tires that last longer you need to get rid of the run flats. They give you a much shorter life and a much harder ride.

Never buy tires from the dealership. Even if they price match they won't offer the same expertise, benefits, or warranty options.

1. May I ask, why runflats have shorter lifespan?
2. Always remember - runflats = no spare tyre. How would you solve that?

Not sure I understand #2 with “always”. I have RFT and also ordered the spare tire option for additional readiness.

The 19” Dueler RFT that came on my X3 30i provide a surprisingly comfortable and pleasant ride while also handling very nimbly and responsively. Treadwear is to be determined at some point in the future.

I did the Google search for you rather than have to retype a whole explanation. It's not really opinion based, it's a well-known fact that they wear out faster and give you a much harder ride. It's just how they're designed.
The solution is to just buy yourself a tire flat kit that includes that green slime and air pump. If the damage to the tire is so significant that the flat repair kit doesn't work the run-flat wouldn't work either. In the end you just need to have the tire patched. Can't do that with a run flat. You need a new tire and chances are they won't have that in stock.

I put this in the current suspension thread but it applies here as well:

We may have had different experiences, but Discount Tire has patched a puncture on my RFTs in the past. They explained that their guideline is similar to non-RFT…tread puncture can be patched as long as not near/involving the sidewall. Not all RFT are the same and aspect ratio matters. The ride on the original 19” RFT Bridgestone Duelers is quite compliant and comfortable even while handling well and having good steering response. A benefit of RFT is not necessarily going 50 miles but going far enough from some questionable urban areas or highway shoulders to a safer location or all the way home without stopping to exit the vehicle and be vulnerable.
