BMW Says Remote 3D View No Longer Available on 2020 M X3/4 Models?

I searched but didn't find anything...

My remote cameras stopped working through the My BMW app. I haven't looked into it for a while; like a year as I have not gotten out much due to COVID (Error: "Something went wrong with the camera system. Please try again later.")

Today, I called the BWM customer support who informed me the remote 3D view was disabled for MY20 M models.

They sent me the attached which indicates it was removed; dated Aug 25, 2021.

Is anyone else aware of this?

*Dates shown above reflect model year (e.g., 2020) or initial production dates (e.g., Mar-19) when feature first became available. Some vehicles are no longer able to access the features due to technology discontinuations such as discontinuation in cellular connectivity.

1-19 Please refer to “Notes and Disclosures to Service Availability Matrix” page for additional information.

Remote 3D View: (indicates 2018 under X3 with footnote 12).
Footnote 12: Feature is available on 2020 X3 and X4 (except X3 M and X4 M) . It is then available on all MY2021 and later X3 and X4, including X3 M and X4 M.
So BMW just disabled a feature which was one of the reasons I bought the car?

I'm not sure that 2020 X3/4M ever had remote view since they are ID6. It was introduced with ID7 "lite" in the 2021 M models (or 2020 series models).

Edit: never mind. Re-read your post which says it was functioning for you initially.

Yes, for the first 1 - 1.5 years I owned it.

Granted, this is a first world problem but it is annoying to spend so much on a car and have features no longer supported. When commuting to the city I used this feature daily (to check on my car in the train station parking lot).

What next? Reverse is no longer supported?

Yeah I absolutely feel your pain - this feature is awesome.

Decontenting prior to delivery (as we've seen lately) is one thing, decontenting after the fact is entirely different and unacceptable IMO.

Thanks for the replies. Perhaps it is something to do with my vehicle despite the documentation?

Can you let me know what iStep version you are on?

I could never get mine to work in the 1.5 years I've had the car.

I've never used this feature yet. But find is pretty useful in many situations. Are we sure that BMW is no loner supporting it... ?

I had no idea the LCI was so much bigger

I'm feeling better due to the responses - I'm going in for an oil change and asked them to update the ISTEP (citing my CarPlay issues) and over the phone they said it would be no problem as long as my car can take the update but we'll see.

I'll report back Thanksgiving week after it's done.

Thanks everyone.
