Stock Exhaust Pipe Question

Anyone here replace the stock pipe after the cat to the stock muffler, bypassing the resonator. Wondering if there's any benefit to upping the pipe size in this process till it hits the muffler but i assume that restriction may just nullify any pipe up sizing done. Was thinking of replacing the cat in the process to a 400 cell nothing too crazy like 200 or no cat but less restrictive than the stock cat. This is all in lieu of going with a new downpipe.

I don't know what I'm trying to accomplish just starting a thread really.

Starting mid-life crisis...

I wasn’t thinking bolt on. Have a muffler shop weld an aftermarket one on.
