I discovered that the cruise control will reduce speed on its own going through curves. I guess I’m ok with that.

Today, after almost 2 years of ownership, I discovered that both the front and the rear cameras turn to give a better view as you turn the steering. It's difficult to notice when driving but try turning the camera on while being stationary, turn the steering and see the camera move.

Checkout these images. I only discovered this accidentally now that I have moved to a new place with a relatively smaller parking.

It's interesting that there's no visible physical movement of the camera from the outside but it all moves inside it's shell. Goes pretty wide too as you can see when comparing images on sides with ones in the center.

I doubt the camera / lens is moving, it'll be the software changing the part of the image displayed. Still good though.

I suspect it's part of the Surround View software - something I don't have

Messing around with voice commands following from suggestions here.

I was impressed so said "Damn You're Good" to which the car replied "Thanks for the compliment"

If you also say "you're crap" you get the same response

It only does this if you have "auto" selected. The camera mode icon selected which is overlay over the image of the hood of the car

Or if you have the gesture feature (iDrive 6; not sure if iDrive 7 has something like this), you can assign the "shove two fingers at the display" gesture to produce the same menu.

I’ve seen a lot of people complain the car stays on after powering off.

I found out if you hit option with the car in “standby” mode, there’s an option not normally there. “Turn car off” in addition to the normal “turn screen off”.

This is what we do in ours. I'd still prefer it shutting down with the start/stop button and am going to get it checked out.

I noticed that after I get my 2020 X3 M40i washed, if I roll down the window within three or four days afterwards that damn window still gets wet. I have the acoustic glass and don’t know if that changes anything, but with the windows up, inside the door it must be nearly airtight. Four days after a car wash, I roll down the window to check the mail and when I roll it up the whole damn window is soaked.

Touchless? Automated car wash? Hand wash?

Sheeet, I ain’t got time to hand wash! Car wash (delta sonic), but it’s the same place I’ve been taking all my cars for the last 10 years, and none of them did that. Roll down the windows the same day, maybe, but never so many days later. It’s almost as if these doors are not vented or have drain holes like all of my previous cars. Weird to think that three or four days after a car wash, the insides of the doors are still wet.

Just an annoying thing I’ve discovered about my G01.

A good thing I discovered about my G01? Full launch control and this thing launches off the line like a BAMF!

clivem2, your comment made me curious to check that out. What I have found is that the camera actually moves inside the casing. As you can see in the picture below, the driver side door is open(RHD) and there are those lines showing the disabled camera, yet you can see towards the steering direction. Also, when I close the door, I get even more fuller picture that fills the void where grey lines are.

I'll investigate with my RHD X3....the reasons for my thinking it's software were:
- a motorised camera is additional complexity and automakers like things to be mechanically simple
- BMW use already Augmented Reality to stitch together the pictures from the various cameras and synthesise the background

Interesting.

Settling this requires two people. One to turn the wheel while the other watches the front camera closely to see if any visible movement happens.
