Pre-LCI front grill guard

Bought it a few months back and just got around to installing it.

https://www.radiatorgrillstore.com/p...on-mesh-grille

This provides a bit more protection to the coolers behind the grill from rocks etc.

The oil cooler is still exposed at the bottom to the ground. I'm working with the company to see if they can provide a solution for that as well.

I don't see the zip ties on their photos, but I can see them in yours. Did you just do it differently?

This is a great idea for some added protection.

Yup! Should have been like this from factory.

I was actually looking to do this manually with the rhombus sheet so this is great.

My only concern is if leaves do get in there, it will be near impossible to get them out?

My main concern was preventing leaves - does it help with that?

Thanks. Very tempted to get this.

If leaves do get behind it I guess I could take it off.

Though I would be tempted to adhere a tighter mesh behind it

From the pics it just looks like you pop it in place and secure with zip ties.

I think the only hard part would be to try and keep the zip tie “buckles” out of sight and behind the grill.

Yep exactly. It's pretty easy overall.

Love the idea, but something about putting zip ties to hold up a grill on a nice car feels wrong. I'd probably try to put it on with 3m adhesive tape maybe? Won't be as secure but at least it won't be noticeable?

TBH, I think this is the reason I haven’t bought it yet.

Though zip ties are far more secure and reversible.

It would be nice if there were some black plastic clips which would fit around the posts.

Yea I actually think that would be a much cleaner solution as well. Unfortunately fitting with adhesive is most likely going to be temporary. I am sure that area is exposed to a lot of water and heat. No way an adhesive would last very long.

Hot glue might do it as well if you put it around the edges. I would be worried about vibration causing scratches if it came loose though.

Another option is that reusable double sided tape:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've only used this indoors but it is very strong. Not sure if it would work outdoors and exposed to water.

Exactly what I was thinking with the double sided tape. May be worth a shot.

I'm very interested to do this but look like factory. The only options I have come across are:

1) Fan mounts like this: https://www.amazon.com/Mounting-Mell...1zcF9hdGY&th=1

2) Taking the bumper off and installing mesh like this: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...er-intake.html

I'm very tempted to do the second option (though I am not sure what lurks behind the bumper for mounting). It also makes it pretty permanent unless you want to remove the bumper again.

Does anyone know if you can access the lower bumper back side without removing the entire bumper?

All that said, black zip ties would hardly be noticeable...
