Wait I don't get this. So some lady "rear ended"you with an X4 M40i but what is the new X4 M40i doing in your driveway. I'm confused!?!?!?

Ok, let’s break this down further:

I was at Albertsons and when I came back to my car, I noticed that someone backed up into me. On a completely different note: my girlfriend got her new X4 M40i. So two different instances in one day. Mines the ‘18 X3 M40 in Phytonic, hers is the white ‘22 X4 M40i.

BTW, it does take a bit of fitting and playing with / positioning the clips to get a 'flush' fit (which I consider important as the mats cover all the space in the footbed). The pics below are before I used the clips. Tucking the rear mats under the seats took some time and I might give it another try to get an even better fit.
I really tried to like those... Initial fit was excellent. I took the time to install them flush, wife was very pleased about the coverage and overall look. I am tall (6'5"), she is shorter, so it took some adjustment to make sure the driver's seat movement does not catch the rear mat, plus to make sure the rear mat does not cover part of the rear seat AC vent etc.

Then it snowed, roads and sidewalks were treated with salt and sand, unavoidably making the mats pretty dirty. No big deal to wash the mats, however I had to remove them first. Some dried dirt dropped on the carpet as I was carefully trying to remove the extra-large mats. The rear one-piece mat tucks underneath the rear seat, so it is not that simple to remove.

So after the mats removal the carpet needed to be vacuumed anyway. Some clips stayed attached to the mats, some stayed in the car trim. After cleaning the mats, the whole process of clean and flat installation had to be restarted.

I like my car clean, but I am not willing to do this on weekly or monthly basis...

I installed 3D MAXpider All-Weather Floor Mats today and although they do not cover as much, they were cheaper and the installation was pretty quick. I am very happy how they look (sorry for the plastic on 3D logo). I can imagine that dirty 3D mats removal will be also much more user friendly.

I blame myself, as I should have seen the issues with Tuxmat mats removal and reinstallation coming... Perhaps they are meant to be cleaned inside the car, without their removal

I had the exact opinion of the Tuxmats when I posted my review a month ago. They are good for hard mud duty but are 1 season solution. Might swap mine the same way I swap tires.

These looks really good.

I'm supposed to receive them this week but when I picked up my car last week the dealer threw in some OEM all weather for free and they seem like they can do the job for the climate in NYC.

Not sure which I will keep.

Other than the cargo mat, the OEM all weather’s are fantastic being easy to remove and clean.

I am using the stock ones which came with the car for now and I see them holding up nicely, didn't go with any all weather mats. May be once they wear out will get the 3D maxspider all weather mats.

I feared the experience you described with the TuxMats. In fact, I hopped they'll be easier to clean compared to others (and I also wanted something different as prior to the X3 I had a Volvo S60R in which I used 3 different sets of mats). I'll see this week if I can clean them properly w/out taking them off. There will be enough dirt and salt for a thorough test as we went skiing and it's (finally) snowing tonight.

Unfortunately, I also realized that my other new purchase - the Yakima Skybox Lo - has quite a bit of flex at highway speed. I suspect it is the spacing of the crossbars (I have them installed as recommended but it's not enough for the long box), so I'll see if I can move move them a few more inches apart. The box is secure, it's just annoying to hear the rattling when it flexes.

BTW, your 3D's look nice and what I initially thought of buying.

A simple mod - license plate frames

The dealer had their frames on there when they installed the plate frames. I looked around for maybe putting on some BMW themed frames, but that was BMW overboard for me. So, I went with these...(I know I need a clean, but we are getting snow every weekend...).

I ordered the front side deflectors a few days ago. Thet don't keep stock and they make them when ordered. It might take a little longer.

Without question the in-track wind deflectors ARE the way to go!

I absolutely HATE to see those that 'stick on' the outside window trim

I HATE when dealers put on their license plate frames and even worse, decal their name/logo on the rear of the car. They don't pay me to advertise for them so they won't be found on my vehicles. I had one dealer years ago (forget which brand) ask me why I removed them and wanted to put new ones on when I brought it in for service. Uhm no .

The WORST is when they drill into your front bumper and stick a dealer plate on there. My state doesn't require front plates. I always tell the salesperson "no stickers/decals, no emblems, no front plate". If they want to put on a rear plate-surround I am ok with that, I just remove it immediately when I get home.

Installed new mirror caps. Surprisingly fitment was 100% with no issues at all. All tabs lined up and clicked in perfectly. Really satisfied.

Fitted forged carbon mirror caps.

£136.50 23% Off | For BMW X3M X4M X5M X6M F95 F96 F97 F98 2018 - 2020 Real Carbon Fiber Replacement Car Rearview Mirror Cover Cap Shell
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mL8zhY4

Arrived very well packed. Carbon finish is flawless. Fit was pretty good. Only had to file down one small area where the edge was a bit thick to be able to push home. Not as many clips or locating tabs as the OEM caps but there’s enough to give a reassuring click sound when fitted. They appear to be on quite firmly.
They are a little thicker than the OEM caps, some of the photos make them look worse than they are. If you didn’t know it really doesn’t show. The edges all sit right with the rest of the mirror. I would give them a 9/10.
It was hard to take photos without a reflection plus it is a miserable overcast day here and it was drizzling at the time.

Edit: Just a few extra pictures (last two) with the sun out. I think they look pretty cool in the sun and they’re different to most BMW’s.

My wife thought they were just all scratched though
