If anything I'm more interested in what you eat when dieting. I'm 5'6, just one inch shy of ur height so it could help me gauge the amount of calorie/protein/good fats/carbs I need to intake per day. I have a rough idea but it'd be nice to have something a little more concrete I do agree with one thing you said tho, p90x is sorta of a late trend. I've started doing back 3 years ago. Now I incorporate the best exercises from that program into my own exercise regiment. But hey, if p90x helps people wanting to get into shape and be healthy, all the power to the product! |

when i actually diet a lil more strict i do: 200 minimum carbs a day (brown rice, sweet potato, oatmeal) 30-50 healthy grams of fat..] and around 200+pro cardio 5 days a week on empty stomach early morning... there really is so much to know and what you can get away with... esp what kind of work u do and so on.. in the summer i do landscaping and construction + lifting 10 + hrs a day... rest of the time im a teacher

Yeah, p90x is def a trendy thing to do, but it works. Not sure if its because the program switches up and keeps it interesting or what, but it seemed to catch on. There are a million videos out there that people can do that would give a result if followed.
I, personally, hate going to the gym. I'm just not into working out and feel out of place especially with all the meat heads up here in my gym. It's way more time working out than I want to put into my day with the drive and all. Plus, I never get as good of a workout if I'm not being pushed in some manner, hence the need for Tony the turd. Goofy guy, but I'm diggin it so far on week #3! I mean, I just want to not be uncomfortable at the beach, and have a successful mud run this year - that is all really.

I'm kind of biased towards CrossFit. I know a guy who is at least a level II instructor and honestly, I'll take his word on almost anything, even if he has no good reason to.
P90x is solid though.

Just saw this thread and thought I would comment. I was a United States Marine for 13 years. I have always been in outstanding shape (not to brag). However, p90x does take you to another level. You get what you put into it though. You can sandbag it and get nowhere or you can push yourself. At the age of 30 I was probably in the best shape of my life. Crossfit is ok from what I have seen. But, I have also seen many people get injured doing it.

When did you get out of the Marines? From what I understand USMC was the first (of the services at least) to really incorporate Xfit.

If you eat properly throughout the week, you get one meal or one day depending on what your diet is to eat whatever you want. P90X is great for getting cut and looking good as well as endurance, but you lose strength which is not a good thing in the military. Of course the typical user on this website is probably a couch potato so anything is better than nothing I suppose.

A lot of people skip yoga, but I think it is actually a pretty important routine. It did wonders for me the first couple of weeks to remove all the soreness from my legs and you get a great stretch in your muscles to prevent injury down the road. It also works out your core, which is important for p90x and beyond. The biggest problem with yoga is the length of the routine. To try and cut it down, I skipped through the breathing/mediation in the beginning and end and also skipped most of the balance postures. So basically did the first 45 minutes, some of the first couple balance postures, then skipped to yoga belly section. In all I was able to cut the workout to an hour.
