"Hey BMW!" in MY20 (iD7)

So, having viewed a couple of YouTube videos, I was under the impression that this "natural language" voice activation would do things like set climate temperatures, set navigation destinations, select sources/tune radio stations etc (not sure about turning on heated seats etc).

I have so far managed to get her to successfully navigate me home, but any attempts to change the climate control temperatures are failing miserably. I get some response back from her about "this vehicle not being equipped to perform that function"

Any others with a new MY20 car have any success in getting voice recognition to adjust the climate temps etc ?

I'm from Scotland. I don't hold out much hope it'll understand me.

I thought I read elsewhere on here that the version of ID7 in the X3 is neutered and not fully implemented. Likely won't happen until LCI when they do the full change over instead of a quick refresh.

Yep, I believe it has a half-baked implementation of iDrive 7, as does the 5 Series.

Will watch video and attempt anything I might have missed on it tomorrow, I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who has had success with changing the climate temperature as an example (being the one I can't seem to make work) if no-one has then it's safe to conclude our MY20 cars (with iD7) are incapable. If someone has then I can then at least go to stealer armed with information that someone has it working.

Connected Drive support genius seemed to think it should work on our cars!

Likewise wondering if anyone with MY20 car has the Remote Software Update option, and if so, where they access that (which menu item)

checked this morning and I already meet all those requirements (Active profile and all selections under Data Privacy ticked).

I will say that the Data Privacy options appear to have changed, to what look like some quick selections (where certain elements will be selected) as well as an "individual" option, where you can then go and manually select any of the items listed (which then appears to show a list similar to the video)

See images below (first 2 show Data Privacy menu options, next 4 show the items that can be selected under the "Individual Selection" option within "Data Privacy":

Remember the days when you had a key, it started the car and that was pretty much it? Aside from a big knob on the dashboard to move the fan in discrete increments from off/mild/wind/tornado? Oh, of course with the temperate control which my GF then always drove me crazy selecting hotter than the sun and max speed of fan :-/

I think everyone in Scotland will have seen this video and understands the pain of voice recognition:

For those out with Scotland, this gives you an idea of Glaswegian accents
