Miami was happening there... a bizarre place that took the magic out of the race and into the spectacle of the area.

I agree. Too much salsa effect I fear. These drivers are not spectacles and should garner respect. Give them attn but give them space. The speeds they go are just insane.

I may be biased, but COTA isn’t terrible. I’ve been to around 12-14 (lost count) F1 races… Indy first, then COTA. Miami is pretty bad. I certainly don’t expect Vegas to really be any better. COTA was/is a good spot for the Nth/Central/Sth American fans to get to. And even tho the track isn’t perfect, it isn’t horrible either. Will certainly be interesting to see Vegas at night… I won’t pay those prices tho.

I envy you. Still on my to do list. Was hoping for Miami. and get some sun too without going abroad but my dream is Monoco or Singapore. Some day. Back in 80’s I handcrafted a F1 car out of wood. Wish I had kept it but eh. I will live out my F1 via the TV for now. Maybe Miami in 2024

We had Monaco on the F1 Bucket list... but it faded over time. We decided we'd rather spend the money and go to Spa (assuming wives came with), or something of the like. Money better spent in our opinions... But alas, even COTA became stale. We first stopped going to the race, only to practice and qualifying... and would come home Sunday morning to all gather and watch at someone's house (beat the crowds and traffic). Then we just barely went to the track at all and just used it as an excuse to gather and go eat/drink and catch up.... Then we decided we could do all that for a lot less money back in Dallas/Ft Worth (and still all just get together). I think when the kids are out of the house and done with college, I'll still take a European F1 trip. But I'm a huge MotoGP fan as well (bigger than F1)... so my Bucket List still has a trip to Italy in coordination with an Italian Moto GP race in there. F1 is getting ridiculously expensive... MotoGP is still reasonable.
