Dinantronics Sport throwing CEL - 2020 m40i

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Good Morning! I recently slapped in a Dinantronics Sport in my 2020 m40i. CEL came on almost instantly and no real performance increase was noticeable, even had some sputtering at high RPMs. Any ideas why? I've since removed it and the CEL is still on. Will this clear on its own, or do I need to clear it?

So, I guess I’m impatient. CEL cleared this afternoon, but I’d still like to get this thing working.

Have you reached out to Dinan?

CELs will appear if the tuner was installed before the car has fully entered sleep mode. When installing pop the hood then lock the car and keep they key fob away. Wait 15 min it will enter sleep mode then install leaving it locked and key fob away. You also have to download Dinan app (D-sport) in order to switch modes. It does default to sport+ upon install without app. You should see the red light on the actual tuner module when the car is running. I found this tuner to be a bit finicky and felt that it work intermitnely at times. As of late it has been working consistently. Good luck

Also what exactly did the “sputtering” feel like ? At what speed ?

Thanks guys. I haven't reached out to Dinan yet, because I want to ensure I haven't goofed anything up. The only thing I can think of is the manifold sensor may not have been seated 100%. The sputtering was pretty violent, probably around 45-50mph, enough to make me just say nope, go home and take the kit off.

Still have the original spark plugs in the vehicle? I tuned another car a few years back and experienced the same symptoms. Replaced plugs with a different spec to handle the increased power and all was fine. Just a thought.
