Could be a fun daily driver. I wish it was going to come with a DCT. Porsche manages a great AWD through a dual clutch. Bmws just lazy and cost cutting

Hope BMW re-thinks the 450HP (if those reports are accurate).

Also found it interesting - it appears the SVR has front and rear 'breathers'! Maybe they will be opened up after all in the X3M?

I can't argue about more power, that's always a good thing. However the the F-Pace SVR is an X5 M competitor as it has a base price of $104,285. When comparing those two, the Jag is out numbered in both HP/TQ, and that's just the F85.

I meant in engine technology and advances..

The S55 already took the newer helpful tech from the B58 like,
Closed deck cylinder block
E Sprayed cylinder walls
Mechanical coolant pump
Cooled charged air via water
Ewg turbo ( has been around since later model N55)
Euro 6 direct injection ( also around in later N55's)

What else is there left for the "S58" to take from the B58..

No, it's a Macan Turbo PP competitor. It's still a crossover, not a full-sized SUV.

I see now. Base M cars are the new M-modified cars. M Competition cars are now the actual M cars. So don't buy the early model. Got it.

Base price on the F Pace SVR is $80,895. That will likely still be about $10k more than the X3 M, but not X5 M money.

Let's not forget the 425 hp rated M3 actually had around 475 on dyno

So a 475hp X3M might be 500-525 on dyno putting it right with competition. And we have no idea on weight yet. Jag is supposed to be heavy. Lots more factors than just HP.

Plus does anyone really want to deal with Jag or Alfa electronics? Real competitor probably still GLC63.

Interesting Alfa claims 0-60 in 3.6 with 45 less horsepower than SVR which claims 4.1

Right, same price as Alfa.

For sure it's a X3M competitor not X5

X3M with comp and same options will be price similar.

Will the S58 output 495/500 HP in X3M CP?

This is kind of bullshit. You already pay a premium to get the M version of that model line and now you need to pay again on top of that to get the best version which should have came on the M car to begin with. There is an illusion that the best M model cost "X" price but in reality that's just the water down version because you need to really pay 5-10K more for the real version.

BMW at vehicle launch "This is the BEST X3M yet!"
BMW 4 months later "Now THIS is the best X3M yet!"

BMW does it and so does Mercedes with their AMG "S" model designation.

But at least Mercedes releases the 63 and 63S side by side and not a year or two later.

OK, I should have said X6 M. But now that I've realized I was comparing UK to US prices, the X6 M is a bit more expensive.

OK, I should have said X6 M. My previous point was that the X3 M is not in the same class and therefore not a direct competitor. to the F-Pace.
How? They will be at most $10k apart? The cost for the F-Pace SVR is said to be $80k. Are you sure you are not confusing it with the Land Rover SVR which is $104k?

You are comparing apples to oranges I believe.

The Jaguar FPace SVR is the same size as a X3 M40i so I would not consider it an X5M competitor. According to Car and Driver, base price for the SVR will start at $80K USD, putting it squarely in X3M territory.

You're right. I was looking at figures from https://media.jaguar.com/news/2018/0...nce-suv-design which stated, "Priced from £74,835 [$104,299] OTR in the UK"

Same engine, so most likely yes. Just like M5 and X5M are always the same or just a few hp apart.

Maybe. I don't know much about the specifics of CPs, other than whether or not they exist (and X3M CP does exist).

If the starting price is $80k like the Jag, that will be more expensive than a pretty decent, not loaded, Macan Turbo.
