Transfer case fluid change, ISTA

Going to change the transfer case fluid on my 2018 xdrive30i soon. ISTA mentions "to ensure complete draining and filling of transfer box: during oil change, carry out service function "oil change" with diagnosis system.

I can't find this service function or even an adaptation reset for the transfer box. Has anyone done this and is able to point me in the right direction?

Sounds like BS to me. There’s really not that much fluid in there anyway. I’ve changed TC fluids on my X5 and L494 without any programming. Worked out just fine. Simply remove the fill plug first, then drain plug, replace drain plug with new crush washer when drained, torque to spec, then fill until a light trickle comes out. Easy.

G01 pre-LCI comes with ATC13-1 transfer case and G01 LCI comes with ATC13-2 transfer case. These transfer cases have 2 oil chambers. If you don't use the service function in ISTA, you won't be able to drain and fill the transfer case properly. See the attached functional description for more info. ATC13-1.pdf

The service function can be found under Vehicle management -> Service functions -> drive -> transfer box VTG.

Thanks. Figured out what the issue was. Had to actually have the computer connected to the vehicle instead of just entering the VIN when I was trying to print out the procedure. The ABL diagnostic showed up after connecting.

Fluid change is complete. In addition to opening the solenoids for the internal oil chambers, ISTA did an oil wear reset and and some type of clutch wear calibration/calibration check.
