CPO 2019 or 2020 MY X3 M40?
My originally plan was to customer order a 2021 M340i once my current lease is up in Oct.
Given COVID and additional family member, we can foresee we will only drive even much less (I live in Chicago downtown and my current leased 430 has merely 15K miles during its 3yr lease...). So the wife suggest we should just finance a CPO instead of entering a new lease again, which I think makes a lot of sense. She also likes the X3 better now that she needs to put and take the baby in/out of the car, so the raised floor on a SUV makes it much easier. So my question comes down to, am I missing a lot getting a 2019MY X3? I remember the HP got a decent 40ish bump on the 2020MY? Is this something very noticeable? I personally actually like the digital dash of the 2019MY much better. I've been eyeing on this listing, not sure if it's a good deal and how much more room there is. https://www.patrickbmw.com/certified...gurus_listings Edit 1: Another big different between 19 and 20 is iDrive 7.0 right? |

Buying a CPO lease return was my route as well. I bought a lesser equipped 2018 (premium, leather, parking plus package, adaptive suspension) with similar mileage and paid 41.5k.
The iDrive and power increase along with digital cluster seem to be the major changes. It also appears there are some differences in packages like ambient lighting now being an add on. For me, the extra power bump is something I would have liked, but not at the expense of adding potential 10k+ to get it with the newer model year. FWIW the one you're looking at seems to have every package option available added, which is a nice plus. That price seems to be fairly good given everything added on. It wouldn't stop me from trying to squeeze out another couple grand but I wouldn't feel disappointed with that price as is. |

$47K is overpriced. If you can get it under $43K is better.
Besides the spec differences you mentioned, android auto would be available starting July build. |

Another good thing is, I currently drive a B48 engine, so even without the added HP the 2019 model should still be competent enough to make me smile... |

If you can live without AA, I’d say go for the listed X3. It’s fully loaded at a decent price.. a few grand off and it’ll be a steal.
The bump in HP is not noticeable. I drove a 2019 X3 M40i and a brand new 2020 X3 M40i back to back and could NOT notice the increase/decrease in power. If you do launch controls often and take the car regularly to a drag strip, you might notice it. But your butt dyno will have to be really good to notice it in the first place. With regular driving and going WOT from red lights, both cars felt the exact same to me.

I can see why you might not have felt much...
382 @ 5800 365 @ 1520 355 @ 5500 369 @ 1520 Torque comes on about the same and power curve probably looks nearly identical too, just pulls a little harder a little higher in the RPMS. |

How about id6 vs id7? I can also live without AA as I think BMW original Navi is quite good already, and I've been quite used to the id6 on my current car. Just wonder what improvements id7 has over id6. |

I also have an old ID version in my F25 X3 and I don’t find that to be bad either Basically, I’m the wrong person to talk to regarding IDrive versions. Someone more knowledgeable can hopefully chime in.

I see that most of the M40i CPOs don't have adaptive M suspension (forget about the differential option).

I've owned both 2019 & 2020 fully loaded.
I think the 2019 you found is nicely loaded.. it has vented seats which many complain about (comfort and lack of bolstering). The seats alone would keep me away. That said, as others mentioned - you miss some HP, the full dash with map and iDrive 7. On the plus side, you have a CD player (gone in 2020).

I thought I was going to go with the lease return route, but I ended up finding a BMW demo that had a clean title, but had an accident on the CarFax. Repaired by BMW for $27k in body work. Bought the car for a shade over $44k with 12k miles.

Having looked at both UK models I ended up buying a my20 rather than 19.
However things to note. No bhp increase in the UK for the 20 model. Idrive 7 is a half baked job, not the full idrive7 on other BMW models and fairly limited. The 'Hello BMW' options don't impress me and gesture control is a bit of a gimic. The live cockpit display is confusing to glance at (thank goodness for the HUD), the binnacle 2019 design is so much better than this 'playstation' effort. Extremely limited to configure and Audi and VW must be laughing to themselves having seen this BMW effort. In short I would be equally happy with a MY19 car. ehw2011, you say android auto available on July 20 build cars. Yes that's configured from factory but I think I'm right in saying that earlier idrive7 cars can be updated with AA after release at a dealership. Of course our half baked idrive7 can't do the over the air update which other BMW models can do from the comfort of their home. |

You can see the seat heating and cooling buttons in the AC controls.

Buttons on HVAC.. but also; you can see the seat lacks bolstering just in build (looks rather flat) and also you lose bolster controls on side of seat.
This is a very good build - rare to see as optioned out as this. Adaptive Suspension Wireless Phone Charging Executive Package Driving Assist Plus package Harman Kardon Sound 21" wheels Heated Rear Seats Dreaded vented seats. Cannot tell: Spare Tire.. vin decoder doesn't list it. Rear window shades. 2019 doesn't have the acoustic glass option. https://decoder.bvzine.com I would definitely drive this car. Many people hate those seats, though I have seen a few say they like them.
