Update to the revised map today... didn't drive it too far, but it does seem noticeably smoother. We shall see if it's an improved map, or if that's all they changed on the November revision.

I was running the revised stage 1 93 for a few weeks. Just flashed the revised E30 and did about 50 miles. No complaints.

That's good to hear. Did you notice any performance difference between maps?

Honestly I haven't but I have yet to push it on the E30 map yet. I'll test it out soon

Keep us posted… I’d like to hear your thoughts regarding the E30 map. It feels pretty stout to me. I’ll get more Dragy numbers pretty soon, and I’ll post them up.

Bumping an old thread but looking to get some feedback.

Running the OTS Stage 1 93 v2.5. Ambient temps were around 40F

What is acceptable timing correction on this platform? I logged for the first time and everything seems within reason but I'm getting -1 to -3 deg on a few cylinders. Ideally you want 0 and I know 3 deg isn't alarming by any means.

Just curious what others are seeing.

Here's the log:

For those that have tuned with BM3 and taken it to the dealer. When you relocked the DME, were they able to detect a tune?

I never had any issues and i never had to relock it

The dealership only cares if you ask them to fix damage caused by your mod.

If you bring it in for an issue that could be caused by a tune and mothership requires a deep module scan, they'll detect the tune. re-locked or not...unless you paid BM3 for their workaround which barely anyone knows about. JB4, RaceChip...etc can all be detected.

Has anyone had any experience with these guys? https://www.bm3tuning.com/f9x/2021-x3m-x4m

I was going to message them but figured I would ask here first.

Seems expensive. IIRC Femto is $1,500USD and BM3 can be had for around $500 new or $300ish for a used license

Just jumped into an X3M and wondering if the DME situation has been fixed. Been trying to research but not finding a definitive answer and I hate beating dead horses but really would like tune the thing.

Beside the obvious reason that Femto will make sure their secrets stays with them so they have a business, why would this never be an OBD unlocked? I am ignorant about this unlock thing, that's why I ask.

Its hardware locked by BMW on the board level, whereas before it was software. Femto clones your ECU to a blank board that is unlocked, I think soon it will be a bigger market as DME's on electric cars cant be unlocked or changed as they are just massive pieces of hardware instead of engines.

What year is your x3m? If you have a 2020 if its before a certain date youll be able to tune it with out sending in your dme. BM3 actually has a way they can check to see if you need a dme unlock.

Both BM3 and MHD apps will tell you if you need an unlock, which is kind of nice.
