new X3M discount
I am from Canada. I looking to buy X3M, I did asked my local dealership is there any discount on MSRP. They told me there almost no discount, but I found on internet. People got about 10% discount on MSRP. I want to know is dealer lying to me or there actually almost no discount.

Canadian market is not equal to the US market. There are so few new M cars sold here comparatively that I do not think you can expect any discount below MSRP.

Canada may be a different animal, but there's almost always a deal to be had if you're willing to put in the effort.
Do a little research - Truecar, Edmunds, Leasehackr, etc. There are plenty of examples of discounts in the US. You might be able to get a chunk knocked off across the border. I would say it's highly unlikely that you'll get 10% though. The best deals across the US lately are averaging 6% off MSRP - which roughly equates to invoice. You might find a 1 in a million 10% off deal in this current market, but that's going to be a ton of work for you or finding the right broker to hunt down that deal. |

The only reason dealers are able to get away with mark-ups is because there are too many people who don't know any better or don't want expend effort. There's not a shortage of X3's right now. Dealers got used to a crazy 21/22 and want to keep riding that ADM bus. |

As everyone in the thread has mentioned, Canada is a different market compared to the US.
Keep in mind our market is a lot smaller compared to them, and you would have to factor in the exchange rate which puts our vehicles (in general) have a lower like-for-like MSRP. Therefore, even prior to the pandemic and shortages, we’d be lucky to get an M with a decent discount, let alone invoice pricing. Of course there are lots of variables in play as well, such as if its an in stock unit or if its a prior model year unit which would have some leeway. Most dealers currently will sell them for MSRP, but the general consensus in the Canadian market at this point of time would be trying to aim for closer to 2-3% off. But don’t be surprised if most will only do MSRP on an M, compared to a non M or Plug-in/EV. |
