Cruise control malfunction warning
Hi folks. 2017 X4M40 with about 50k miles, the last several weeks has been occasionally showing a Cruise control malfunction warning message. Lasts only a few seconds, normally happens only at startup although it did appear once while driving at 25 mph. Has never failed to engage the CC, and has never disconnected it while using it.
My mechanic read the codes but did not find anything related to CC (there was one about passenger seat occupancy sensor). Any ideas about what could be causing this? It never stays on long enough to get a code reader on while the message is active. Thanks. John |

I'll add to this... Same year/mileage and same symptoms.
At around 30K miles mark the paddles stopped working properly ( either both upshifted or did not react) - was mostly happening when I turn the wheel. Code read shoed short on one of the paddles - dealer replaced. Later on, this new thing started with cruise control malfunction. Noticed that it is more likely to happen when I slightly turn the steering wheel and when it is cold. Some 3/4-series forums suggest it could be the steering column module ( aka SZL), while others point to loose connectors. Planning to take the steering wheel off one day and douple-check connectors. |
