Continued driving possible: Chassis

This code came back up again on me after I took it to service while back for this issue. They couldn’t find the problem. Has anyone had this issue and fixed? The car drives fine. I can switch drive modes. I don’t really notice anything different from the car.

Word on the street is that’s it’s a bug that was introduced in this latest software update and that there is no real cause for concern.

Interesting.. last time I took it to dealer they reset it, it went away for a while and it came back up again. It’s just annoying to see. I’m hoping when I bring it to the dealership they can plug the car in and see if it shows what the error is….

Didn't you car go in for service recently? Thought I saw it was on a lifter. Maybe they touched or moved something unintentionally?

That picture was old, I toke that picture when I did a oil change a while back. I just came back from my local mechanic and he plugged in his computer to the car and I got these codes.
Besides the exhaust flap which I unplugged the fuse. The other 2 codes are something with suspension which triggered the chassis light and headlamp

Does yours have the adaptive suspension? That might be the sensor issue.

Yeah - from the error, it looks related to the adaptive suspension. Probably in this state it just behaves as a regular suspension with no damper control.

Mmmm interesting.. the light did not come up at all today and I drove it for a few hours. Nothing. Still going to take it to dealer in manhattan and explain it to them. Because it comes and goes. Even though it hasn’t come up. I doubt they going to want to change it because I’m sure it’s an expensive fix. But hopefully they will do it

Crap, I was mistaken. It wasn’t this message, it was “Brake energy regeneration restricted” and "Urgent gearbox checkup" that were software defects. Hope you get this issue sorted out.

I got this same message this morning on my 2022 X6M. I drove the 15 miles to work, shut it down. An hour later I started her up and the message is gone.

Is it still happening? Did you ever take it back to the dealer again?

I had the chassis issue on my 2015 M Sport. And had it fixed several times.

First two times they said it was water that got into the electrical compartment in the rear passenger side of the car and shorted something out. So they replaced something related to the chassis/suspension on two different occasions.

The third time they replaced a sensor (which is what I suspected the problem was all along).

Also found this thread which seems to explain the cause of the issue quite clearly:

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2001091

It describes my problem exactly, but NOT how my dealer fixed it. My dealer replaced two circuit boards after blaming the roof drains being clogged, and then a sensor the third time. Mine still leaks a bit and this antenna issue would appear to be the likely cause.

So I finally got to take my car to service…

So all my shocks stored the same the same code. And they determined VDP Control Unit was bad. Worst part is this part is on back order and they have no eta on this part. =(

As well as a defective light switch which cause my headlamp malfunction light come up on my dash.

So I did have it replaced. It was working fine for couple of months. All of a sudden with no rain or recent car wash it started happening again. So I dropped it off at service recently. I called them 2 days after dropping it off since I haven’t heard anything from them. So my service advisor told they found the module was “damped”. So they need to hold on to the car for little longer. There seems to be a tiny tiny leak that over time the water accumulates enough to where the module gets wet and that’s why I keep getting the chassis light. As of today It’s been a little over a week since I dropped it off. When they find the leak i will report back here and let anyone know for reference.

So according to my service advisor. There is a leak in the sun roof drain or something that would keep getting the module wet and trigger the chassis light. They want over $2,200 to take care of the leak as well as replace and program the module
