Music via Bluetooth?

I have a 2008 X3 3.0si. I'm able to connect my iPhone 6s via bluetooth for calls and to listen to voice msgs with no issues. But now, I'm trying to play music (i.e., Pandora, music library, etc) from the same phone via bluetooth and it just won't do it. I can connect via aux port but I get interference with that method. My next thought is to buy an FM modulator that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Any insights?

You shouldn't get interference through the aux port. Try a better quality cable.

If you want the Bluetooth streaming function you can buy a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the back of the radio. Plug and play

that's great; I never thought to look for an adapter -- I'd try that. I have taken a different approach. I pulled the aux port into the inside of the center console; used wire taps to tap another cig/power port off the one there; put that power port inside the center console with a twin USB adapter plugged into it; then have one dedicated USB cable for phone #2, and using an adapter to run an apple cable to phone #1 that plugs into the aux and gets power. Its crazy but simple and effective; 2 phones can charge and 1 plays into aux.

but I did that a while ago and would go with the BT adapter if I had not done the impossible already

Can someone post a more recent link to the Bluetooth adapter...I'm looking to stream music in our 2006 X3? I've searched Ebay and there's a few options...I'd like to know what the community favors. The phone works fine via the BMW bluetooth module but no music unfortunately.

I just bought one very similar to this (Vicsting brand) and I'm very happy with it. I was going to buy the BlueBus, which integrates into the system and allows full bluetooth phone and audio, gives you good information on the screen, but at about $260 total it was a little too much for this car. My bluetooth doesn't work even for phone calls with modern phones (hit or miss...my E46 M3 has the same problem), and the speakerphone built into this little device was no worse than most built-in setups, and you get the music connection, so I'm pretty happy for the price.

I notice that these plugs may drain your battery, my X3 leaves them on almost 1 hour after I turned off
