Remote start not available?

I'm almost ready to place an order for an x3m comp but I can't find an option for remote start. Is it not available?

No remote start available... I don't believe it will be available until it is running I drive 7.

Thanks. I will probably wait until the prices come down a bit and order; so I'll just wait until the 2021 model year. Finally got the ventilated seats but now want the remote start

Hopefully they put in idrive 7 before the LCI. I'm not a fan of the connected grilles/beaver tooth look.

It works on the X7, I just can't imagine it on the X3/4.

But I also want remote start and I would wait for that.

Lack of remote start is an embarrassing miss in this market segment, and especially given the competition. My 2007 Yukon Denali has it. MB, Jaguar and others provide useful apps that incorporate remote start.

You're right but I guess I'm surprised because Bmw is now offering it on all their new generation cars

Remote start.

I have been reading the remote start page with great interest as my information from a BMW dealer close to me has suggested that Uk cars with Idrive 7 will have remote start sometime in the near future, and this remote start is coded as CR!1 or 1CR, not sure which one.

Apparently all the hardware is already present to make this happen, but I guess I will have to wait and see. It is also going to be released at the same time as the NEW android Auto for BMW's.

I'm also told by the same dealer that at least 1 car in their range already has remote start, and he thinks it is the X1 X3 or X5. 2020 onwards.

By the way, on a legality point of view it is not illegal to fit remote start, as my Volvo and several other cars already have it, It is only illegal to leave a car running on a public highway, so if you are on private land (such as my driveway) you'll probably be ok.

I've only had mine for a short while now but i find it really quite economical aided no doubt by the fact that its a mild hybrid diesel. I was going to take it on a really long road trip around Scotland but the day I collected it was the first day of lockdown.

Oh, and before I forget. the only thing needed to make remote start work is the correct FSC code, whatever that is.

If I've got any of this wrong please dont shoot the messenger, as I know nothing but am relying on somebody from a dealership who in theory should know what they are talking about.....

Remote start would be wonderful in the summertime hell that is Florida. No reason that it shouldn't have been long available in the lineup.

You can remote ventilate using the BMW Connected app on your phone. You can also schedule ventilations.

The 2020 G0x is already equipped with iD7 (why it's a '21 feature on the F9x is puzzling to me but I'll digress) but does not include remote start to my understanding along with other features of iD7 released so I would think that this "version" of iD7 on the G0x will be the same for the F9x.

FYI guys, remote engine start is not available even in the 2021 X3M Comp with iDrive7. You can have "Preconditioning/ventilation" remotely, but the "Remote Engine Start" option isn't listed in the settings the way it is on the X7...

You can however buy one from a 3rd party for $1000.... https://www.eurostart.com/product/brs7

Any updates to this? Lots of online literature saying that the X3 with iDrive 7 should be getting remote start.

Nice, I may look into getting one of these. You can start with the factory keyfob according to their video so who cares if it's not part of iDrive.

We have remote start on our 2020 Z4.. surprised to hear that it isn't available on the X3.. a lot of weird inconsistencies between models. (Why does the Z4 get it but not the SUVs?)

Its available on the 2, 3 and 4 series which are made in Germany so its not that. Its also not on the X3 and X4 which are made here. May come down to platforms and when they were introduced. Have it on our G05 and G07 which are 1 and 2 yrs old. X3 and X4 platforms are a bit older. Its not available on the 7 or 8 series either. Go figure.

X3/X4 run on SP15. Remote Engine Start I believe requires SP18 with Full iDrive 7. The iDrive 7 on the X3/X4 is not the full version (no remote start, no comfort access 2.0, no remote software upgrades). The LCI will likely move to SP18 and iDrive 7 (like the 5 series LCI).

Remote Engine Start is standard on the 7/8 series
