892M Jet Black means the inner barrel is Jet Black, while they machine finish the face of the wheel. So it's technically bi-color from what I've understood. So like the photos and the smaller version on the M3/M4 G80. |

Will be a bit pissed if it’s delivered without it though.

Financial savings- $1200 was pre-LCI, and based on our LCI build with the M Driver’s package it also dropped $1200. The key now will be whether BMW allows a simple delete from the Exec package with ‘ZDM’ (providing a true savings of $1200). That would be ideal rather than having to pay $2500 for M Driver’s package which deletes the pano and subtracts $1200, yielding a net cost of $1300 (like we had to do pre-LCI).
Weight savings- A couple years ago I started lobbying BMW for a CFRP roof option [ https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1564722 ]. At that time I researched CG and SSF (static stability factor) and did some calculations to estimate the effect of roof weight differences. Roof with pano ~130lbs Roof just aluminum ~30lbs Roof CFRP~12lbs Removing ~100lbs from the roof (highest part of the vehicle), by my rough estimation, the vertical CG decreased ~1” This may be what I’m sensing in the handling difference between my X3MC and my wife’s. Additional unsprung weight savings with the 892M wheels should also provide some benefit at the track and strip. I hope to take hers to get some numbers after break-in to check that out. |

holy crap. thats a lot heavier than i thought.
tbh, if BMW planned on bringing the G81 to the US we wouldn’t have this issue and i’d definitely first in line to get one instead of the F97.

Awesome news, these cars are going into production much sooner than I expected.
How long after putting your orders in did you guys get production numbers? Not sure when to start harassing my dealer to get production details |

if your dealer cant provide a production number that means they do not have an allocation.

Just in - our build sheet showing the ability to delete the pano from within Exec (not needing to pay for M Driver's Package to accomplish). Was told the software is still being updated so pricing structure isn't finished yet.
So we've been able to delete M Driver's Pkg from her order and still get a lighter weight clean roof with at least some degree of savings off MSRP (amount TBD when their update is complete). Win -Win Much appreciation to BMWNA and M Division for allowing this option. It didn't make sense that M's team would want to force a heavy pano on their flagship X3 line if some Enthusiasts wish to maximize OEM performance and handling and don't want it. Good work and thanks for listening! |

It's going to be a popular color but hopefully we are all spread out across the states. Still patiently waiting and hoping for laser lights and calipers option to become available. 🤞🏼 |

I did change my interior to the black Alcantara with beige and show week 31 scheduled. And I added remote start! He did say HK seems to still be included but no laser lights and no wireless charging. Last edited by Baylorguy; 07-20-2021 at 11:51 AM.. |
