I have a 2013 X3 that shakes/shudders when turning - I thought maybe it was a transfercase actuator gear but I can't find a replacement gear for the 2013 X3. All the gears I can find stop at 2010 model.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Any trouble codes present?

Pinpointing the location of the shudder would help to isolate the component(s). It could be the front differential or the transfer case.

I'd advise perhaps visiting a good Euro indy shop (NOT a dealership) for a diagnosis.

if you were to unplug the transfer case, does it still shudder when turning?

Where would I unplug the transfer case?

I try google and youtube - and the only Transfer Case Actuator Rebuild information I can find is for the 2004-2010 model yrs - Does anyone have info one where to buy the replacement gear or the entire actuator for the 2013 X3

Does it only shudder when turning? Have you replaced the transfer case oil? Many people experience shudder and change the oil….all gone after that……you do not state how many miles and when the oil has been changed

Yes only shudders when turning - I just bought the car used a couple months ago with 110k miles. Car was very well maintained. I do not know if the transfer case oil was ever changed. I just saw on you tube where a plastic gear gets worn out so I was going to go with that but can't find anything past the 2010 model year.

Had same problem, changed the oil and was good as new.

Ok - Changed the Transfer Case Oil - Still shudders but I read I have to recalibrate the transfer case - What programmer do I need to get that will do this for me?

there are tons out there that can perform the task
