Jack Stands
Feel like this is a silly question but I can’t figure out the jack point to be able to use jack stands. I know the jack points on each side but that doesn’t help with putting in jack stands. Seems like there should be something in the center front but there isn’t, at least not that I see and against my better judgment I jacked it up from one side and crawled under there to look even. It looks like I might be able to jack from one of the front suspension points maybe.
What am I missing? Thanks!! |

That appears to be a product to protect the plastic jack point. I use a piece of wood which should work almost as well. That said thank you for the response but I’m still stuck. I’m trying to figure out where to put the jack stands. For example if I were to put them at the normal jack point how would I jack the car up? If I jack the car up at the jack point, where do I place the jackstand?

i used the jack points at the side and then put the stand under suspension points as you mention. That said, i only did one side at a time.

The jack stand should be placed under a solid part of the subframe. Do not put it under a suspension piece that is designed to move or articulate.

I use Reverse Logic Pivot Top custom jack stand pads with Esco bases. On the X3M you can lift the back up from the center brace then put stands under both rear rocker points (plastic cups). Use a pad on your jack to prevent scratching. For the front I use a rubber puck on the lower control arm subframe mount to lift up each side separately and place the jack stand on the front point. You don't need the rubber puck depends on the shape of your jack cup. If it's deep I would recommend so you don't put pressure on the control arm. If it's shallow then just a jack pad like pictured is fine.
I had mine up last weekend doing spring cleaning. Jack stands: https://jackpad.us/bmw-mini

I believe the manual shows the rear diff and a front brace to lift from the center in able to install jack stands. I read it a few months ago, but Im pretty sure its there.

There is no front center on these. There is a center brace behind the cover but it's not beefy. I wouldn't lift with it. You'll have to lift each side at a time from the lower control arm mounting point. I use a rubber pad on my jack to not scratch.

Thanks - this is what I ended up doing! I could not sadly get the f’n boost pressure sensor out though to get my racechip installed. BMW made it ungodly hard to get to that sensor. Or someone played a trick at the factory and glued it! lol |

So far I've been doing one wheel at a time and using the jack to support. I'm not happy with this method. Also, does no one make an insert that will go on a regular jack and fit the BMW points? I'm thinking of going this route of cutting existing stands as I already have 3 sets and don't want to buy another. The issue is I believe the jack points are meant to hold the vehicle from the inside and outside at the same time: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=727131 |

I've got the HF aluminum ones that have worked well for me. I also have a set of old steel craftsman ones that I rarely use as the aluminum ones are much easier to move around. |

I've got HF jack stands (not recalled ) with adapters from ebay.
The adapters are specific to the model of the jack stand and made for BMW jack pad points. The ebay seller also has a universal jack stand adapter. Overall it's a good setup: adapter is snug on the stand, fits the jack pad points well, and inexpensive compared to other options. Pics. |

Ive seen many that sit only inside, but the design mount design seems like it should be supporting the mount on the inside and the rim. I’ve got two sets of the older aluminum jacks so would love to have one set dedicated to my X3. |
