BMW X3 M test drive event @ M Town Tour coming to dealer near you

The Flyer just came in the mail today for us, realize others have seen it earlier. The section that mentions the X3M states, "How do you like your Speed? Be one of the first to experience the most exciting M vehicles yet, including the First-Ever M850i xDrive Convertible, the aggressive M5 Competition, the dynamic X3 M Competition, the turbo-charged M340i, and the mechanical mastery of the M2 Competition." Hopefully they will make it available soon.

There is a BMW event at Monticello Motor Club in NY today and I saw pics of about four each of X4M and X3M there to be driven. Hopefully that means these will make their way to the M Town Tour very shortly! Or at least we'll get a friggin clip of the exhaust sound ha!

No - I wish! BMW is doing media drives this week in some locations (including Monticello MC). I'm hopeful that after this week, those cars will show up on the M Town Tour.

Another thing BMW is behind on... M track day dates... at this rate I don't even think they will be having it 🙁

That is really too bad. I have really enjoyed it the last two years at Monticello MC.

I know. I went last year to Miami and Monticello and had a blast. But they released the dates in April... I feel like it's too late in the year to release dates now. Unless some cities will be taken away :/ but doesn't look promising

Funny that we were just talking about this - I just received the registration email for M Track Days at MMC. They're later this year - late September actually. Also, the price has doubled, but a fun experience to be sure.

Can't believe they doubled the price. They used to offer it free a few years ago. I thought $250 was reasonable... not sure $500 for half a day is worth it

Totally agree. I think it's a very fun experience it if you've never done it before, but I've done it twice and it's a two hour drive for me. Since the events appear to be exactly the same as in the past, I think I'm out.

But still...fun event...fun way to see MMC and some very cool cars.

Anyone that has attended these events yet know if this is an autocross event like some of their other driving events? I don't believe this one includes that since I don't see it listed on their website, and autocross cars were traditionally cars like 530i / I3.

No - at least not in NY. I drove the X3MC on Saturday and the nav was programmed to take you on an approximately 4 mile drive (on public roads).

I only had about 15 minutes with the car and wasn't really able to put it through its paces. My impressions were:

1 - The new M seats are the highlight of the show. They were extremely comfortable and supportive. A huge step up from my 2017 X4 M40i seats.

2 - I did notice the turbo lag other people have mentioned, but only from a standstill. If you're moving, the car has tons of power.

3 - Note that the launch control is activated a bit differently than in some other models. You need to hold the brake and throttle down longer in order to allow the turbos to build psi. If you don't do this, it definitely feels slow off the line. However, if you wait that extra 2 seconds before stepping off the brake, it will put your head back for sure.

All in all, I wasn't quite as blown away as I thought I'd be. Having said that, my lease is up and six months and I'm 90% sure i'll buy the X4MC.
