Racechip '22 X3M

Anyone know where I can get a Racechip installed locally in Miami, FL? Is there a dealer that's able to do this?

I just installed in today on my g80 comp xd. I gotta say, clip A is not easy, but can be done. I had one of my son's friend's with tiny hands get in there and make that connection.

I know you were asking for professional installation, but if you do decide to try it on your own, it is totally doable. I have never put a wrench to any motor in my life, and I was able to figure it out. My advice is to really study the connectors and understand how the mechanism works, ie pull the tab out, press down, pull out, etc. Then you can do it blind, with one hand in the engine. There are several videos out there on how to do it.

The results are insane! The car feels like a different beast now. When parked, revving the engine now, I can feel the engine torque the frame of the car, like the engine wants to twist out of the frame. The exhaust sound has changed also, lots more burbling sounds, and even a couple of pops. Highly recommend it. Good luck!

As someone who put a Racechip in both an X3M and G80 M3 for a friend I agree it’s doable but the install for clip A is totally different. G80 you move ac compressor a bit and attack from the top of the engine. F97 you remove drivers wheel and go thru an access panel you remove. But absolutely agree you play with sensor c since it’s the same type of sensor you’ll be removing blindly when you remove sensor a

I'm not up for that hassle of installing it myself lol.

Glad to hear that the Racechip really does make a difference. Super excited to get mine installed 😆

Foreign Affairs in Pompano is a dealer for them
Yes that's who I contacted. They ordered it for me and should get it installed hopefully this week. Thanks!

I’m really close to pulling the trigger on this chip
Can the dealer see the chip was installed if you pull it off before you have work done ?

From what I have read here, once they hook it up to a computer it will flag any coding (piggy back or otherwise).

This is what has prevented me from tuning. Although technically they can only deny a warranty claim if it is proved to be the cause of the failure but that can be a battle for the consumer. Some dealers don't seem to care.

Others with more experience can chime in.

It’s risk v reward and everyone is different. One guarantee is any tune including piggyback will leave a trail even if you erase faults ie)bimmer code. Most dealers won’t go looking for tune related faults as long as they’re not asked to warranty something like a blown turbo. You’re not taking a Racechip out for a covered oil change and going through the hassle of reinstalling that clip a so the dealer is going to see the Racechip wiring. Me? My first mod on any turbo BMW has been a JB4 or Racechip. 80+hp and torque for less than $700 is too tempting and the S58 is pretty overbuilt so I think it’ll handle the conservative piggyback tuning. I also left it on for my 1200 service with no problems. The enjoyment it gives outweighs the what ifs that however unlikely may occur.

Yeah same here. Not worried about dealer seeing it.

Contemplating on doing Midpipe or Downpipe. Any suggestions? Also what are the difference in terms of power delivery and exhaust sound?

I don’t have either. The Competition exhaust rigged to keep the valves always open is loud enough for me. Others can answer the midpipe/downpipe question
But, get some drop in intake filters and ditch the charcoal filters. I put them in the same time as my Racechip so I’m not sure how much power it gives but certainly can’t hurt.

I don't think you've been following my IG.
I have sold and done a few to LCI.
And I also offers forum pricing.

You should.
Even CarBahn and Dinan is private labeling RaceChip and selling it at higher price.
I have been selling it since 2015 and help in a product development for a few of US Spec cars.

Then you’ll like this - you can lose traction on the 1-2 shift if the tires are cold. I don’t know if awd or the traction control saved my bacon but if I was in my old M6 I would have ended up in the weeds.

Haha! Same here! Cold tires on a damp day and I had traction control off! Slip and slide
