Thank you for this information. The build that I had ordered had remote start. After BMW butcher most of my options I decided to buy a 22 X3 from the lot. It has most of the options I wanted except remote start and the hitch. I am assuming you purchase then do a remote software update..

Does anyone know if remote start purchased from MyBmw is a one time purchase or is it a subscription service. The refund information on the purchase is confusing to me. I am thinking it’s a one time purchase.

Excerpt from the website:

Remote Engine Start
One-time for $330.00

With the new Remote Engine Start feature, your BMW will always be at the temperature you want when you get in. Available subscription periods may differ by model.

Note: A one-time purchase of Remote Engine Start will only be eligible for a refund within the first 90 days from the date of purchase. A 1-year or 3-year duration purchase of Remote Engine Start will be eligible for a refund on a pro-rated basis.

One time purchase for buying it. The refund info is what's slightly confusing.

Cabman - I will be interested to know how this goes for you. I am tempted. If it works smoothly for you, that would encourage. Seeing the 90 day refund policy gives some comfort on it also. Thanks.

Like you I want to see how the process went with someone who has already done this. My assumption is that the 2022s come with the hardware already and the $330 is to update iDrive 7 to add in the appropriate software changes to make it active. I called the Genius line but they didn’t have too much information other than to say if it’s available to you in MyBMW then you can upgrade.

How about this. You can buy it for my X3 and if it’s good I will get it for yours.

Remote Start no longer shows up in the BMW store. In fact nothing shows up in the BMW store.

I think it's down right now, and I can't access CarData either.

Ordered it last night and it’s working for me today. I got an email a couple hours after ordering giving me instructions on how to update the apps in I drive. Followed the instructions and nothing happened .

This morning went to run some errands and when I parked the car , I was prompted to activate my new service (specifically said it was for remote start). Said it will take about 5 minutes so went and did grocery shopping. Came back and climate controls and my bmw app were updated to show remote start and pre conditioning.

Verified I could trigger it via app and my key fob.

Anyone tried this from the UK? I see what is said about the UK and other cars have it, wonder if anyone can see this option as an upgrade?

I had this on my F Pace and it is amazing. Hopefully we get some clarity on whether it's coming or not

I got remote start as an option out of the factory. It works fine via keyfob and app. Haven't had much use for it yet as I primarily park either in my own garage or in a shaded parking garage. Even when it's been hot out, the car is very quick to cool down the cabin too, so I haven't felt the need to use remote start for the A/C.

After doing a remote start the car will not let you drive away unless you first depress the brake pedal and press the start/stop button with the key physically present in the car - so you don't need to worry about people driving off with your vehicle

How does the key fob option work? I also purchased it and see it in the app but not sure how to program the fob

You don't program it. You just press the lock button three times. And after a few seconds the lights flash and the engine turns on

Worked! That was easy.

Does it also allow you to program the temperature you want in the car or is that all automatic?

It would likely default to the temp of when you left the car last.

I have a 2021 X3 m40i. Confused whether I should be able to see the option to upgrade software for remote start. I do not see it in the connected drive menu. Is it available for my model? Thanks!

If you see the option available in the Connected Drive Store then you can get it.
