No doubt. My track obsession started with my e60 M5, which I tracked and modified for a year and a half, before realizing that exceeding 160 mph each lap into a hard braking zone with no protection other than a three-point seat belt and a helmet wasn't a great idea. That car was especially fun at track days organized by Porsche clubs. The reactions progressed predictably through the day --

Morning -- You and your family sedan are going to get run over! Be ready to move aside.

Lunch -- Uhhmm, I suppose I can grudgingly accept you gaining on me on the long straight, but how exactly did you catch up to me in the turns?

Afternoon -- OK, you can come back.
That's cool.

Here's my E60 on track, on a charity event.

Definitely a beer to the person who knows the circuit!!!

I have done 30+ years of drag racing in Outlaw Street and then a 7 year full sponsorship driving a Pro-Mod. To tell you the truth, I don't even know how to turn a car.

Here is the mild safety system in my Pro-Mod:

Of course you wouldn't but these SUVs are blurring a lot of lines.

I have the bikes on my car or in my car 50% of the time and I like how my legs fit in SUVs as cars seem to hurt my old back. My SUV is lowered so it pretty much looks like some kind of strange sedan now...lol...

I was going to say that I wouldn't be able to reach to put the roof bars on an SUV at my height. Less than 6ft.,,,😂

This value should not surprise you, it's on the same level with GLC63S and Stelvio QV. X3MC is slightly heavier but seems to have more hp. Also the two competitors have significantly wider tires that slow down the car a bit.
Yeah but thats the differnce between US and UK. You guys (and C&D mag) use rollout (worth about 0.3seconds). here in the Uk we tend not to. So UK car will do 0-60 in around 3.6 which is still blooming fast.

It would be more transparent if they posted rollout and nonroll out figures. If i get 3.6 out of my x3m I will be more than happy.

That was my temp rack until I got my Stealth Hitch installed. Now they are on back and no sign of a hitch when receiver is removed.

My Dragy is 3.58 without rollout. 3.36 with rollout 3106FT DA. X3MC zero to 60mph.

Safe to assume upcoming m3/m4 on awd would be in low 3s on 0-60s and easily be at high 10s on 1/4 which is pretty exciting

I just hope they come up with an M4 Gran Coupe. I think I would be able to convince my wife to get it as a ‘family-friendly car’.

I am sure that would be an interesting comparison. Same power but the AMG has 100Nm more, not sure about respective weights.

First there is the inevitable stupid "SUVs don't belong on race tracks, but my four-door sedan with heated seats, 35-speaker sound system, 400 lbs of sound insulation, and acres of leather is a perfectly appropriate track car" claim. A tiny number of you ever will take your cars to a race track. And of that tiny number, a much tinier percentage will dedicate the time, effort and money to develop the driving skills necessary to drive any of these cars more aggressively than 7/10s without stuffing them into a tire wall (i.e., anywhere near the limit where the small marginal differences between these highly capable machines can become evident). Not to mention that anyone who is in any way serious about race track use will realize quickly that neither the X3M, nor the M3, nor any other street car is appropriate due to the severe compromises in safety.

Then there is the "My choice of the X3MC is vindicated because it is .1 seconds faster to 60 than a Competitor Y (never mind that I likely will never actually race Competitor Y and the impressively low acceleration figure requires launch control)".

For all the bench racing, chest-beating and minute dissection of quarter-mile times (sometimes even resulting not from actual quarter-mile times but from spreadsheet calculations and extrapolations), there is surprisingly little discussion about the real world every day use of these machines. I've done the race track thing, including instructing and wheel-to-wheel racing in a dedicated and properly equipped race car. With respect to a street car, I care much more about how it functions in every day use, whether it brings a smile to my face when I see it, when I start it, and when I drive it, how responsive is it on my daily drive to work, how comfortable it is after a day-long highway slog, etc. I cannot imagine making a $90,000 purchase decision based on whether the car I choose would beat some other car in a mythical 0-to-whatever race that will never happen. Maybe I am just an outlier here.
You are an outlier, no doubt. And the race track discussion is academic for me since none of the organizers I go with to the track allows SUVs at all.

I don’t know if their concerns (rollover?) are founded with this new batch of high performance SUVs, but there you have it...

That said, my fat sedan can beat your fat sedan.

The DA is seldom lower than 3,000 ft in Texas(100+ degrees with humidity always up in the 55-99 range) except during the cold 3 months and I can't stick then anyways. A 3.63 is the fastest I ran during the heat of the summer. I tried to log some runs since it has cooled off but my tires are shot and just spins. It is at the shop right now getting new tires put on.

Oh and I just paid $325 for an oil change. That made me miss my BMW....

This is on my 3.47 time with a roll out 3.30.

temperature: 80 deg f
uncorrected barometer: 29.204 Hg
humidity: 62 %

vapor pressure: 1.033 Hg
dew point: 65.907 deg f
grains: 97.6
air density: 91.930 %
density altitude: 2,852.425 ft

There is really no difference at all. I am itching for someone to meet me at the drag strip so we can run but even though I have spoken to several people on here that live in my area, no takers so far.

Anyway you look at it, these are incredible machines and I love both of them. Had they made the X3MC more aggressive looking than a normal X3, I would have gotten one.

You're a natural 1/4 mile guy. Post up the 1/4 run. 60mph spurts don't really mean much even though "forums" like it.

3.47? Wow, that is fast AF! The X3M is quick but lags off the line (literally), the GLC63 S is faster off the line due to that V8 TT low end torque with almost no lag.

however, on the top end the X3M starts to catch it. I'd be interested in a roll race. The X3M pulls HARD on the top end.

I am on a hunt for a GLC. I know for a fact, both the X3M Comp and GLC63S will dust the TrackHawk.
