Anyone managed to configure / code the rear lights as DRL's on a pre-LCI X3?

TIA

Not on a X3, but I did this to my '17 M2 I had in London.
Details are in this thread. My car didn't have the kafas camera, so the speed limit info used the sat nav data to display the speed limit. This meant, it was incorrect for recent changes or wouldn't pick up temporary speed limits, but mostly was good. The speed limit in most cases would change as you would go past the speed sign. It wasn't perfect, but certainly helped with the 20 and 30 mph roads with cameras in London.
The unit took about 2 weeks to arrive from S Korea (July 2020) and took all of 10 minutes to install and code using bimmercode.

Thanks for the info. Using BimmerCode the Soeed limit info is set to Country specific. In Eco mode the car knows when the speed limit is going to change so something in the navigation is seeing them.

On another note, my car had the Alpina dials from the dealer but BimmerCode said they were not active. Does this mean the dealer did this with their software and BimmerCode can’t see the change?

Cheers

is it possible to code the High Beam Assist to activate automatically instead of hitting always the button on the stalk?I ask because I did not see the option in the coding sections.

Anti Dazzle 2022 LCI

Had anyone coded the anti-Dazzle using bimmer code for 22? If so, what are the expert options needed in the BDC to do this? I have seen them for the X5/X6.

Thanks in advance

AFAIK you can't code this with Bimmercode. There are a ton of options that need to be changed. I had the guys at https://www.codemybimmer.ca/ do it for me and it works great.

Additionally, in my experience the US vehicles lack some of the hardware in the headlights required for this feature to work without blinding oncoming traffic.

I do occasionally get flashed by oncoming drivers but it is pretty rare. I've chalked it up to them just not seeing me switch to low beams more than getting blinded, but I could be wrong.

I've tested this by driving in another car in front of my X3, and when the GFHB feature turns on (either one bright or a full tunnel) I am immediately blinded in my rear view mirror.

I can actually see this happen when driving in the x3 as well, if you pay attention to the light pattern and how it strikes the back of the car in front of you, you will notice light leaks all over the place and into their rear view mirrors.

I can't comment on traffic approaching from the oncoming lane as I haven't yet tested this myself since timing is a bit tricky.

As an aside, I have a 2018 M2 which exhibits the same issues.

I think it is important to check if the coding was properly and completely executed - GFHB comments should include what process was followed.

I also had https://codemybimmer.ca code the Anti-Dazzle for me on my 2021 X3, and don't have any issues or have had someone flash me either.

I had GFHB coded by kubax86 who is a respected and trusted forum member. Cannot tell you his process specifically. Presumably using esys. It is possible he did something wrong. It is also possible others think their GFHB are working as expected when they are in fact not. All I can do is share my findings.

You may want to try driving another car in front of your X3 to verify you aren't blinding others. It did take me several months before someone flashed at me, which is what led me to investigate further.

It’s also worth noting that the US 2022 vehicles have a different type of headlight than in previous years. It’s a matrix LED setup as opposed to the adaptive swiveling lights. So, there other factors at play here.

According the the build it stated Decoding for no-dazzle high-beam assistance. I assume all the hardware should be there. I will reach out to the person mention in the thread above and confirm. I definitely don’t want to blind anyone.

Practically all BMW sold for US market which have GFHB functionality enabled in Europe and elsewhere permitted by law will have this decoding option listed on the build. Has been that way at least for the last approx 5-10 years. Does not necessarily mean the hardware is there.

I've not used Bimmercode before but plan on getting one...it looks like you can disable and/or reduce the persistence time of the seatbelt gong. Having not actually used it before, I can't tell from their site if this is a basic setting to requiring a more advanced coding effort. Can anyone confirm?

For my 2022, I can only change the seat belt indicators and gong. At least with basic coding. In the demo mode it shows the ability to change the duration of the gong though. So maybe it’s vehicle/year dependent or just not available in basic mode.

I'm about to buy the Bimmercode app. Could one of you "experienced" Bimmercoders answer this question: How do I determine what equipment my X3 has, so I'll know what I can or cannot code?

Every one of the Bimmercode coding options has a line or two that gives the "equipment requirements" in order to code that particular feature.....presumably, IF my car doesn't have a particular "equipment requirement" I can't code that feature.

Here are just some examples of the required equipment:
“Body Domain Controller” BDC_BODY2 control unit
“Headunit” HU_NBT_EVO or “Headunit” HU_MGU control unit
“Roof Function Center” FZD__35 control unit
“Optional Extra System” SAS10 control unit
“Air Conditioning” IHKA_PRO1 control unit
“Engine Control Unit” DME control unit
etc
etc

Thanks
