Very cool! I thought about going there after our pickup but did not have enough time, however, our backroads trip to the blueridge/Asheville was full of twisties also so got to have some fun and feel the handling capabilities of this beast.

Nice video! I've not gotten there yet with my X3M, and I'm only 4 hours away!

The Tail of the Dragon is not for the faint of heart. Zero run-off area either side, no guard rails in most places, your choice of drop offs or hitting a bank, and a fair amount of traffic at times. At least there are no homes, driveways, and intersections. Best advice is to stay on your side of the double yellow, drive to your comfort level and stay alert 100% of the time at every blind corner (most of them). There are more than a few motorcycle accidents there, and a "tree of shame" of collected broken motorcycle parts hanging from it.

A lot of folks don't like how tight and relatively slow it is but I enjoy the repetitive flow of one corner after another after another.... although behind slow traffic its like you're in the Twilight Zone and can't escape.

That's part of the fun. If it doesn't pucker to the size of a decimal point, you're doing something wrong!

Instead of playing music that I wasn't a big fan of I was sincerely hoping to hear the exhaust note be the soundtrack instead...

A lot slower than I was expecting but on that road I would probably do the same thing in a newer ride like yours. To take it harder you want full confidence. Cool video and hope you keep them coming, would like to see you do it again with more confidence. Very good staying inside the yellow, one of my biggest pet peeves on that road with cars traveling it.

Dude… have you driven the tail of the dragon? Just how much faster do you think you could take those curves in a brand new car that you’re trying to learn, on my first time driving on this incredibly dangerous stretch of road??? Most cases I was going twice the safety limit or better. I’m not saying that someone who knew the road like the back of their hand, and knew the vehicle they were driving just as well couldn’t go a little faster, but you can’t go much faster on those curves. You just can’t… Physics.

Instead of whining, how about you make your own video the way you want it?

Umm, I guess perception is reality but it just looks slower than I felt when I was in a arguably a less capable car (RS7). I didn't feel like my reply deserved this response, but whatever you put in your coffee let me know. I need some of that energy. I think I mentioned everything you said, so I'm not sure what you're worked up about.

I for one John thoroughly appreciated your video , a beautiful production , and what an amazing road to put some miles on your new X3M as you head up to your "run in" service.

Perhaps the word "Attacking" might have provided some of your audience with a slightly skewed expectation .. not a criticism, just an observation

Aspects I did not expect to see from your video.
An out and out ballsy drive with red line gear changes and windshield face plant breaking, and pushing the X3M to absolute limits for the given road and conditions.

The odd glimpse of your tach had you between 2-4k rpms , demonstrating what an ideal road for a real world "run in" process.

Good skills mate .. the music suited the cruise so well
