Although these are not new photos, these were taken the very moment the install was completed. The center of the caliper has a full 1" of clearance behind it & the barrel of the wheel. The top & bottom sections of the calipers have about 7/8" of clearance between them & the barrel of the factory 21" wheel. A factory 20" wheel will be 1/2" shorter on both side from the center point. So I don't think you'll have anything to worry about here.

And the spokes of the 20" wheels have a different design to them. But so do the X5M base & X5M Competition. They're base --- to comp wheel designs are pretty similar in the base trim. Despite them being a 21 - 22" wheel. Hope this all makes sense bud & thank you for being utterly patient with this.

Thank you Kevin!

Perhaps folk could consider using 19" winter* or 20" F9x M5/M8 wheels, knowing these cars come with 395mm 6 pot brembos as std from factory.

* - either m705 or m812 19" x 9.5" et26mm should work F&R on F97/8 ?

That's a good idea & I like your mindset. However, I think most people will try to run these with the factory wheels -or- the factory F97 winter wheels.

Hey guys, I'm looking into doing this upgrade for my X4M as well. I found a set of X5M calipers but they have rear ones as well. Not sure if seller is willing to sell only front. I saw someone asking if rear upgrade is possible as well. Anyone did rear upgrade from X5M as well? Do they fit the same way the front does? If I'm buying the whole set at least I use all of them. TIA.

The rear set of calipers from the X5 M will not work at all. It's not a simple plug & play like the front calipers are. You would have to use some of the rear suspension components (from the X5 M) for those rear calipers to bolt up to those X3 M spindles. Trust me, if it was possible I would've already done it or at least tried it.

Thanks for the info. I'll wait to see if the seller agrees to sell only front. If not, I ll keep on searching. 👍
