BOV for upgraded charge pipe?

When reading around about upgrading my charge pipe I haven't noticed anyone installing an aftermarket blow off valve.

Even on YouTube watching G01 intake upgrades there's nothing, only a lot of Supra's with charge pipe upgrades including BOVs.

Is there a reason why they're not a common component installed when upgrading the rest of the intake system on our G01s?

I emailed Terry about that actually this morning to get feedback on fitment.

Just surprised I haven't seen any others do something similar. Was curious if anyone had knowledge of the pros/cons of BOV vs no BOV.

Does the B58 have a recycling system for unused boost that would be more beneficial than letting it release into the atmosphere?

When I ordered my charge pipe from Burger they never recommended the BOV option

I’d like to think that if it was beneficial they would have

Pros are it sounds cool, but it’s not going to give any meaningful performance increase.

This was recently released and likely not available when you ordered yours.

We’ve seen it trip out the ecu before, the dme does this naturally by opening the valves when you let off letting the boost flow through. This system is good for like 45 psi. And typically they dont activate since the throttle stays open. For instance on all the cars I’ve tuned that have one, I haven’t heard one blow off sound

I wouldn't expect any direct power gains from a BOV but more or less expect it to maybe prolong the lifespan of the turbo by releasing unused/excess pressure, possibly making space and allowing for more fresh air to spool simultaneously and promote a more efficient intake cycle.

Some people do enjoy the "pshhh" as well.

Kern explain it well.

No need or benefit for one until approching 600hp, >45psi. DME manages by itself just fine.
