edit: damn already at the dealership If delivery occurs by Friday total time from production start to delivery will be 25 days or less! Very impressive. A lot more info on the process in my post history.

July 30th - August 22nd will be 24 days. My comment was centered around how quickly the car got built to being in California (across the country).

Sounds like your X3 got on a fast train. Mine left Spartanburg on Norfolk Southern (Train #CA 6000) a day late on 8/13 and is due in at Oxnard on 8/28. I believe mine missed your train because it was held in Quality Check for 5 days. Train crew must be doing a lot of stopping and sightseeing along the way. So my train is traveling about at the average speed that the Pony Express averaged each day. |

The other thing to remember is that those of us with early builds had about 7 days artificial delay for engineering/marketing holds since BMW wasn't ready to ship the early-build 2019s yet.
Here on the east coast, I went into production on 7/26, entered assembly on 8/7, and took delivery on 8/17. So anywhere from 10-22 days depending on how you want to count. I am pretty sure the period between 7/26 and 8/7 was when the body was made and painted, and then the body sat on a rack until assembly began. Take out the artificial delays and you could knock a week off the very early builds. Cars coming off the line now would probably be in the range of 7-15 days between production start and delivery on the east coast. Regardless, it's all really impressive to me. |

People on the east cost get theirs maybe 1-2 weeks after production finishes (often closer to a week+). Delivery times seem to get progressively longer as you go west, with west coasters getting theirs maybe 3-4++ weeks afterwards. For my X3, it was around 4.5 weeks from "production complete" to delivery (I have no idea if my time was typical or longer than usual).

Well, I'm sure it varies but, with that schedule, you're almost certainly near the east coast. I can't see how train shipping and PDC/dealer prep can be anywhere near that quick elsewhere.

All,
I am a novice when it comes to tracking my M40i's production progress, so other than the My Garage "Track My Status", where do I find what S/N has been last produced? My production started 08/13, but status has not changed. Last four of my VIN: 3425. I am scheduled - firm - for a Performance Center Delivery on Fri 09/07. Can anyone share how I see my vehicle's state of being as of today? Thanks in advance. |

Wrong!
This baby is in my garage -- and OH so sweet. 31 days from deal to delivery of a custom-build M40i. As sad as it is that BMW's order tracking system cannot keep up with the real-world status of a car, it's turns out they exceeded expectations as set by the website.
